Gudjohnsen or Ashton as options for our fourth striker - which do you prefer? I think we all know how good gudjohnsen is but is this ashton kid good enough for the OT stage? (I've only watched him play in one match).

Better than OGS? I don't think so.
Fourth striker does not mean fourth choice.

What's so funny?
Since you are the one advocating for Ashton, what's so good about him?

OT?
No I didn't, but I did hear that he missed a very good chance..
Oh well, best get it out the way in friedlies....bit like Forlan with his goal today..

And I do..
Comparing Gudjohnson and the promising Ashton is daft, and probably 10m away in terms of cash..

It's not a comparison, it's a choice
Would you rather have an established premiership striker like gudjohnsen as part of the club's strikeforce or it would be better to persist with the rvn-ogs partnership and groom a young player like ashton?

It would be better to get both and shoot Yorke and Forlan IMO...

He's a highly thought of young striker. He just broke his foot though.
Next thread. FAO Roy... who would you prefer as our 4th striker... Zamora or Ronaldo ?

Yorke is already a moving target hopefully to be shot by souness
Forlan? A bit harsh to write him off so early don't you think so?

I'm not writing him off. I'm going by his impact to date..
Or lack of..
Perhaps he'll be fantastic next season...

But have you seen Ashton play? Where did you get this opinion about him?
And cut the sarcasm out. It's about a choice of whether you would want a promising young striker in or an established one (realistic options of course) considering that we already have two top-ranked marksmen in OGS and RVN. If you were to bring in a player like gudjohnsen, would you want to upset the RVN-OGS partnership or bide your time, let the partnership continue its good work and bring in some one like ashton and groom him up especially since OGS is pushing 30.

I used sarcasm to to illustrate that you're talking out of your ass. ie Gudjohnsen for 4th striker. You really go to extreme lengths to be a part of the conversations dont you. What's your opinion about Higginbotham again ?

I think there has been a bit of a miscommunication here. I certainly do not mean 4th striker to be "4th choice striker", rather a player like gudjohnsen or ashton should either one of then come onboard would be part of the "four strikers pool" that fergie likes to maintain.
You haven't answered my question about how you formed your opinion about Ashton.

Highly rated based on what? From the footy news or you watched him?

Good prospect who would've made a good 4th striker..
However, if we do sign a striker, he won't be 4th choice IMO hence we need someone more experienced, like Gudjohnsen, someone who will give Ole a run for his money..

I see
So why were you so full of self-righteous condemnation when I posted my opinion about O'Shea i.e. you were spitting out this argument about me watching only in a handful of matches, highlights etc.
Hypocricism rings a bell?

It's not about a fourth choice striker, Roy.
Miscom here.
Just the choice of whether we should go for an established striker or a young prospect to make up the quartet of strikers at OT (discounting yorke)
I agree with you, if we buying a striker, we need someone like gudjohnsen.

I was merely suggesting we look at Ashton, that's all.
Unlike you I don't talk out of my ass because I'm so desperate to be a part of the discussion. You routinely butt into conversations with idiotic statements such as your bizarre writings about Higginbotham and Gudhjohnsen. Why don't you do a bit of research on these matters before diving into empty swimming pool and pretending as if you meant to do so, only after you realize that everyone is mocking you.

Look mate, at no point in my postings did I refer to Gudhjohnsen as our "fourth choice" striker - it was just a simple miscom here and I apologize for my wrong choice of words. Seems like you have a lot of confusion about that even after I have explained things.
Re the Ashton/O'Shea thingy, you are quick to come out with condemnations when I commented that O'Shea seems like a promising lad for the sole reason that I haven't seen enough of him.
I'll wager you haven't seen more of Ashton than O'Shea.
