Hey man, you seem to have a grasp on the US TV broadcasting situation. I was wondering if you knew why ESPN don't show tape delayed games in the States like they do on ESPN International and the Latin ESPN.

I've emailed them and called them but got no joy. It's not like they'd be cutting into any major sports broadcasting on espn2 (fishing etc).

Anywayz, just wondered if you had any thoughts.

Because they think that fishing and tire-pulling contests are more important. Can't be any other reason really.

It all come down to economics. TV networks in the states generate revenue by showing commercials every 7 minutes or so - football matches only allow them to show commercials before, at the half, and after - which amounts to less inbound revenue and ultimately less football on US TV. FSW can get away with showing more football because it's a small part of an international conglomerate (Newscorp) and hence isn't under the same market pressure as ESPN is.

At least that's my theory. At least they're showing one CL game a week. They could completely scrap it if they wanted to.
