With johnsen gone now (despite your predictions that he would stay becoz fergie said he was the best central defender around), do you think we need to buy?

Allow me to speak for Raoul and the other sane ppl in the place by saying that if a couple of defenders leave they'll need to replaced by one or two others.
Rather than the draw an away game and demand 7 new defenders and a new keeper policy.
If people are going they will have to be replaced, if Johnsen had have been fit he would have stayed. It'll be tough getting a defender as good as him.

Mere exaggeration on your part about "7 defenders" and you are the one moaning about others puttings words into your mouth.
Yes, players need to be replaced - the next question is how? Internal promotion or purchases?

Through purchases? promoting fringe players?

No, I'm a firm believer in the Ichk doctrine of buying and selling players when one of our defenders makes a mistake. Players shouldn't make mistakes. To err is not human after all. Loyalty to our youth players is overrated, so lets go out and buy loads of expensive Italian players who have no interest in leaving Italy and would leave United in 6 months because they're homesick or can't eat their favourite restaurants etc.

Their may be 4 defenders leaving, 2 purchases would be more than enough. 1 would probably even do it with O'Shea playing more frequently.
Definitely not 7 and they dont have to be superstars or young Baresi's.
Internal promotion or purchases, both are a possible.

Nonsense Raoul. You know very well that I have been mentioning that the defence needed some work since even before this season began, more so after the departure of Stam.
These are not "one or two" mistakes made - it has been a whole catalouge of defensive errors since last season. Even Fergie and Roy Keane have pointed out that the defence isn't up to scratch, what makes you think it's just the odd mistake and that it will just go away?
Loyalty to youth players who CAN make the grade is surely to be lauded, loyalty to a player just because he was born in OT and represented the club since he could walk is totally misplaced if that said player ain't up to the mark. Eg I have misgivings about Brown but I do believe that O'Shea can offer more for the team - let's face it, you aren't gonna play both of them against Real Madrid are you?
No, I have never emphasized signing expensive Italian imports - in fact, nothing would please me more if we signed an excellent bargain in the mould of a hyppia or a vieira. Hope this makes it clear to you that I am not for signing big names just for the sake of it.

Did I ever suggest starting both of them against Real Madrid ? The point is that we will never see another United side as we've seen over the past 10 years if we don't allow the younger players to gain some more experience.

FYI, we already have broken some of the younger players into the first team.
Brown is a regular of sorts.
O'Shea is "bench" material.
If they are good enough, they'll break into the first team no matter who joins us etc.
If they aren't, it's either the bench, reserves or being sold to another club. Simple as that.

Agreed about the 2 defenders thingy. Let's leave it at that okay? These 7, 8 or whatever numbers you drag up is getting a bit tiresome.

Theirs no war so their'll be no truce,
I just disagree with most of your opinions, the 7 defenders, coaches, keepers, strikers thing is just the tip of the iceberg.
Where did the inspiration for "LCHK" come from btw?
