I'm thinking of getting one. Is it a worthwhile investment or not? What are the standard of games like? Also, what size memory card do you recommend?

Thanks for any help.

I bought one a month or so ago. Use it when on the bus to work etc. It's a decent bit of kit. Picked up a 4gig sony magicgate card for about £10 off the net which can be used for everything from game saves to videos.

Not got many games as yet, keep meaning to buy the GTA games.

I bought one second hand off my cousin

Not impressed at all by it, bit of a pain in the arse and very uncomfortable to play games for anymore than a few minutes with

Graphics are like inferior PS2 graphics, nothing special but decent for a handheld

I've also heard of cool things you can do via hooking it up to your PS3 but it never works for me

So to sum up, if you have money to burn, and don't mind it collecting dust then yes, if you're on a normal income I wouldn't go out of your way to buy one

I've had one for 3 years. It's one of those things I use for a month, then forget about for 6 months.
I've got a 2gig card that's plenty big for what I use it for.
GTA games are decent, Tiger Woods is good, movies are a pain in the ass cause you have to hold the damn thing up in front of you the whole time. I have not been happy with any of the sports games I have, except for golf. I have also been told that if you want to use it to get on the internet, you should have at least a 4gig card.

i bought it a few months after it was released, played it for about 3 months, never played it again. Not really needed imo

Bought myself a daxter kit the other day. Well worth the price. Considering that this is my first gaming console, i'm pretty excited and think its pretty amazing. Even if you are not too big on gaming, its a great multimedia device. You can use it to watch movies on the go (the screen size is great for watching video, way better than my video Ipod) and its wi-fi enabled too. So I think its well worth a buy.

I was considering buying it a year back but decided against after playing my cousin's psp. I got a neck strain within 5 minutes from the constant downward staring, the controls were not comfortable as well. The graphics are just decent, but that's what you expect for a handheld. I would save the money if I were you and get a proper console like the ps3 or even the 360.

i got a psp a week ago and ive only played it twice or thrice

Worth getting one for the GTAs and Tekken alone. Overall standard of games is poor, but there are some gems.

If you want to play games on the move, then get one. If you just want it for music and video capabilities, then there are better alternatives. If you want a handheld that is a jack of all trades yet a master of none (apart from the games), then there is currently nothing to touch it. You'll soon even be able to watch TV on it, the slim model comes with TV out, and it can produce video at almost DVD quality.

I cant believe people are saying that the standard of games is poor. The PSP rapes any other handheld game wise.

It's not a handheld, it's a portable Playstation. It's not only supposed to rape but make children in the process and raise a family, then send the kids to college.

I had one since it was released...liked it for a year but then realised how poor the games actualy were, not only are there many glitches in them but they shorten the game, for example call of duty on the psp has like 11 misions i completed it in 1hour, the only decent games are the ones made specificaly for the psp eg wipeout pure

i sold it on ebay recently for £150

dont get one
