FAO Neil Thompson - you old dog!

Got this from the manutd.com 'my mates says' section. Someone had probably posted it already, but though it was worth a snigger...

My mate works at minnow club Boston United. He says there has been a lot of representatives from United there lately, apparently trying to sign over-the-hill legend Neil Thompson, 38. He says there are two stumbling blocks, Boston's asking price of £5,000,000 and his reluctance to play under Sir Alex Ferguson. Apparently, Thompson refuses to play under any manager except the current Boston manager, the successful Steve Evans. United are trying to now secure the arrival of both player and manager and are willing to except Evans' wage demands of £6,000,000 a year.

Only just noticed 'Neil Thomson' has no 'p'
Perhaps he was trying to conceal his identity?

I can think of better ways to conceal your identity than removing one letter from your name.
For instance, if you want to keep your job and where you work secret, you could call yourself The Reporter.

Never tried to keep my job secret. Anyone interested can check out a recent thread where Neil Thomson (without the p) asked me - and I told him. One of those regadring a recent editorial I think...
And by the way - can't you tell a joke when you see it?
Maybe I'll shift camps and go over to red issue if no-one is going to appreciate me... :(

Its amazing how many neil thomson's there are, with or without a 'p', even at school there was another one.

I suspect that transfer link is the worst that our club has ever had btw. Call yourself a reporter? ;)

Very sorry if I seem to have offended you in any way by trying to inject a little humour. Clearly it doesn't go down too well...

Rather than have us trawl through your recent posts why not just say where you work?

Sorry mate, don't mean to offend, was just jokingly taking the piss to inject a little humour. You'll get used to us soon - although it would be understandable if you didn't want to. ;)

Why is everything the reporter writes a double entendre?
I think he works for Gay Times.

Sorry to be so tedious... charlie's devils was just pissing me off a little...
I work for the Belfast Telegraph in NI - a bit like the Manchester Evening News, same idea - and for another newspaper called The Mid-Ulster Mail. OK, you've never heard of that one, but it s regional newapaper of the year in 2000 (wow, I hear you all exclaim).
But I have been working with The Belfast Telegraph for over four years now and the sports editor is a United fan with some SERIOUS contacts. Don't know too much about what's going on at the moment though as he's not back from Japan yet... and anyway, he's one of those editors you only see a couple of times a week...
The Mid-Ulster Mail is much more locally based around the towns of Cookstown and Magherafelt in N Ireland - but I have been covering sport for them for nine years now so I've seen plenty of football over the years on a first hand basis. I've been writing on sport for well over decade now - covering a few matches at Old Trafford and elsewhere in England and Scotland as well when I get VERY lucky - that's rare though.
That OK for you all...
