Hi, I don't know if this has ever been suggested / tried before. BUt I was wondering if it would be possible to adda n automatic siganture to each of our posts. Editable under the User CP. I'm not really a technical user, but through a different forum I am in they use signatures and you can include links to other websites posts etc.

The reason I think it would be beneficial, is things like sometimes people like myself don't always have internet access, so quite often things are missed, I just htought it would be a way to draw attention to various points. We all know that when a user has a new point to raise doesn't really check the forum for previous posts, so for example I may here that Nani is ok after his injury in the U21's. I could then create a link in my signature saying Nani - Just a Sprain use that as the link to a previous post so that other users will see there is a change of information without creating new threads. Or point to a previous thread Nani - Just a Sprain

Also. A suggestion of a sticky for each player of the team, so that again any new news would not be receive multiple new threads. The first place you would look, would be in the players own thread.

Just a few suggestions, please let me know your thoughts on these ideas?

How about setting them up as a link to each players thread then, like the 'Google' links that appear at the top of the main forum page?

It'd be easy enough to add signatures

I think the big no against them on here is that they tend to make everything look very messy. Niall may have other reasons to either like or dislike them aswell, that I'm not aware of. Personally I don't like them though. People tend to get carried away

It's a fair argument though, so we'll see what the others think.

Can't see us doing the second thing, with the players. It'd just take up too much room

Nani - All nani words are linked so you can find all nani related article/thread?

It might work, but considering how often a player names (like SAF, Neville, etc) it will still be hectic and ineffective in the end.
 
I don't really like signatures on all posts. It makes it almost impossible to read a thread from a mobile.
 
I am against the idea, I have seen it on other boards and don't think it works.

Do we really want someone to be able to do this at the bottom of every post?

exactly as jason said... avatars and signatures are silly and if everyone of us can have them this place will look like a circus and will be a fecking mess
 
There's an option for individual users to turn signatures off, so they can't see them on everyone else's posts.

Sigs will never be allowed on this board as long as I have a say in it.

The forum is fine as it is. Just take a look at RAWK or another forum. The layout looks almost unprofessional. This site is much easier to read.
 
If you desperately want a tagline, just copy and paste the same words at the bottom of your message each time

people tend to put the biggest load of shite in their signatures to try and outdo each other...no thanks

stickies: people already complain that theres too many. Having one for each of the first team? Thats not limiting it to 11 any more, thats 20 stickies right there.

theres a difference between organised and overkill

plus i dont like change much either
 
Well I appreciate you all taking the time to give me your feedbck, and if I have any other great ideas, I'll be sure to post them again.. :D Seriously after seeing your various viewpoints, especially Jasonr's wonderul example.. I am beginning to dislike them myself. Although Niall, if you ver did change your mind, like one of the replies said they can be turned on and off... you guys from the levels above could simply turn any off tha were being abused, nver any pics only text so the loading time would be pretty much zero. Although on the other side, thepoint about loading on a mobile would be a waste of people's time. Thanks again .. Wazza
 
Agree with Niall and the others on sigs being a no no. The player thing would only work in a reference type sense and might fit well into an add on to the forum we've been discussing but don't hold your breath as that discussion has been ongoing for around 18 months with the initial progress by Weastie and myself grinding to a complete halt over the last 12 months due to changes in life circumstances and workloads.

Doesn't help that Weastie went and deleted himself in the interim period either, the big Salfordian girl's blouse.

Sounds interesting .. from what I've heard though I won't hold my breath :D

Don't suppose there will be a thread for suggestions to improve the site then :rolleyes: .. Can I just suggest an extra button which you can click to 'multi-quote', this appears as a v. small icon on every post then when you have finished clicking your last one, you just click quote and it collects then all together and starts your reply in advanced mode.

Your wish is my command, if you look to the bottom right of each post you should now see this icon

It was there anyway since our last upgrade but this fat useless pigeon's not averse to taking the credit
