What're your thoughts on Timbaland.

Now I'm generally opposed to the generic commercial/radio shite that gets done to death (especially when House/Electro tracks are concerned). But this guy produces some wicked beats, and some fair decent tunes on the whole - if you can look passed the commercial side of his work.

I'm a bit of a closet fan.

Thoughts Hectic, and anyone else who cares to contribute?

I'm a fan of Timbaland. He produces some really good beats, and has brought out the best in Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, and even makes 50 cent's song 'Ayo Technology' really good too. His own album, 'Shock Value' is quite decent, especially 'The Way I are'

I also agree. He produces some really good tracks and his collaborations with JT and Nelly Furtado were really good. I also really like his latest song. Certainly better than 50 cent or P diddy (or whatever he calls himself now). Although out of all the the artists of his genre I like Akon the most.

I think Timbaland is a hard one.

He has the ability, to be the best in Hip-Hop, or one of at least. Some of the beats he has made in his past are beyond special, the beat patterns and weird noises he has if you listen carefully are completely genius. The problem is, that Timbaland seems to have gone, and in his place is a commercial producer who knows which path has more money.

I love the old school Timbaland, he was far better unknown, like the majority of producers like Kanye, Pharell etc. When these artists weren't known, they were putting everything in to make the best Hip-Hop possible so they could blow. Now since they are all filthy rich, I feel they have got lazy and taken the easy route out. Instead of getting back on that grind, they can just produce a mainstream hit which is disappointing.

Timbaland is a great example of this. You compare one of his albums when he was with Magoo, and then you compare it to the new album, and the difference in style, even genre, is stunning. Not only that, but Timbaland has for some reason, deemed himself as a rapper as well, which is retarded because he doesn't have near enough ability to actually rap good. But, he has an image, and it sells. For me, I much prefer the old Timbaland, who was one of Hip-Hops most consistent, fresh and talented producers. The new one pales in comparison.

Relies too heavily on bass for my liking. Without his heavy bass half of his beats would be average.
