Handchoz's a fecking great keeper.
Stats don't lie, Henchoz and Hyppia were among the top 4 defenders last year.(I didn't see any Man Utd defenders in the top 10 even)
It's also nice to play a defensive style of play with 4 good defenders in front of the back 4.
Leave Stephane alone. His two clutch saves during last years Charity Shield were alone proof enough that he's right up there with Kahn and Buffon.

henchoz is a good solid player who does his job very well when accompanied by hyppia and the rest of the defencive players HAMMAN, GERRARD, RISE, CARRAGER/BABBLE, HESKEY etc. but to say that as an individual he is a better player than blanc is well, stupid. BLANC is a skillful, calm, intelligent player who idealy could be paired with a player like henchoz ... who although effective is simply a bruiser sombody to put in hard challeges and clear the ball by any mean possible while a player like blanc/hyppia look after the football side of defending.
Currently at UNITED we don't have a player like henchoz, all our defenders can actually play football pretty well and are highly skilled maybe this is our downfall, but if united were to sign henchoz or a player of his type i would concider it a step backwards.

Stephane may not be the elegant passer of the ball, but he wins challenges, blocks the ball and is able to head it clear. It is an advantage to have a passer of the ball in your defence.
Currently United dont have a player of the calibre of Henchoz, Blanc has improved but he is not better than Henchoz. In his prime , yes, but currently ?
United have a very shaky defence, the dogs on the street know that. You have invested £30 million in order to try and solve that problem and have offered Bblanc a 1 year extension to cover the possibility that you wouldnt get Rio.
If you didnt get Rio then Ferguson would have had a retired Blanc, Johnsen who left and that leaves an inexperienced O'Shea and lucky dip between 3 players to play out of position.
Blanc improved towards the end of the season but it is doubtful that he can play a full season again.
In my view, United are in need of a Stephane Henchoz and is currently better than what is avalable with the exception of young Oo'Shea would could develop into a class act
His statement would have been credible had he not used the Word top for I can't think of more than 2 playes who are tops at Liverpool. and I would only go for Hyypia, Babbel and Gerrard.

Why is it doubtful Blanc will last another full season????
Man United, with the back four of Irwin - Neville - Brown - Silvestre the mostly used, had the best defensive record in the Prem the season before last. Compare that back four with a back four of Neville - Rio - Blanc - Silvestre..
