I think the way the fans and the club have treated yorkie and the way things have turned out for him brings the club to shame.

He has started all of 6 games this season and one of those games was away to arsenal in the worthless cup, and a hand full of sub apearances...

I dont understand why either, seeming he was the one player that standed out in pre-season and i thought he was the best of the players in the pre-season games and as soon as the season started he was totally cast aside for the first 7-10 games...

And now all united fans hate the guy?
Look at all he has done for us, he basicaly won us the treble in 99 and was fantastic for us for 2 seasons..

Its not his fault that boro was not the club for him and im sure hes not being difficult although he is very much in his right to be seeming the way the fans and club have treated him...

Looking at that thread that stoned.rosemont made tell me that in your opinions yorkie was the worst player, fair enough but was he tryed and tested? (from the basies of what you lot are going on i could argue that forlan is in the same boat as him..., not going to but could...)

This treatment dont do his confidence any good...

Although its come to be expected from united fans these days :(

I agree with you - what has or hasn't happened in regard to Yorke's "attitude" is largely based on speculation, rumour, conjecture etc. That is not to say that it is without foundation, but the commonplace insults and jibes aimed at the guy are a mystery to me.

If Cole had been made available for some of this year's European games, I feel sure he would have added something - though that is mere speculation too. What has become clear is Ferguson's inability to sustain the period of dominance indefinately, no manager could have done that. However there is cause to wonder at the efficacy of tampering as much as he did with a winning formula.

Four key components of 99's treble team are no longer with us:- Irwin, Cole, Stam and Yorke. Three of those could have been kept on as players had they been disciplined in a less drastic fashion...

I don`t think everyone who is not a Yorkie fan is being vindictive. I like Yorkie and I haven`t forgotten what he did for us - it is sad that the Treble Season was not so long ago yet this season has seen Dwight`s place in the club slump down and down.

I do think, however, that Sir Alex has to be respected for not being a `one more chance - again and again` person. That is weak management (in fact it is not management). He clearly set a standard of commitment that Dwight had to live up to, and the fact that Dwight is not relevant to Sir Alex`s plans tells me that Dwight did not knuckle down.

When he appeared for Manchester United in the recent season he did not appear to be giving his all or even a quarter of it.

He is a grown man being paid more money in one week than many people in western countries earn in one year (and let`s not talk about the poor bastards who could never earn Dwight`s money per week in their lifetime or in fact multiple lives) and it is simple - if he does not come up to scratch in terms of the manager`s expectations of his behaviour on and off the pitch then he will be given short shrift.

You mention four of the Treble side not there. Denis is retiring after years of excellent service. Thanks mate and best of luck whatever you do.
Andy Cole left to improve his England prospects. Put his personal ambition ahead of the club and still missed out. I sympathise to an extent but prefer players 100% committed to United (Ole springs to mind).
Jaap left for reasons that we will never know. Fergie has built enough credibility over the years for me to accept his view. If fergie had gone and Jaap stayed I would probably be arguing for Jaap.
Dwight was great for us for two years. 2000/01 he slipped and 2001/02 got no chances. His partying seems to be a big problem. Not only does it affect his performance but he is a poor example for younger players (Wes Brown springs to mind). If Dwight doesn't want to knuckle down he should go before he affects to many others. There is not much difference in ability between the likes of Giggs, Beckham and co and the likes of Lee Sharpe. There is a big difference in commitment. That is why the first two are world class and the other a wasted talent.

Yorke has earned everything that has happened to him. He had his chance but he has thrown it away post 99 due entirely to his own behaviour. I will be very glad when he goes.

A friend who lives in Manchester and goes to the reserve game all the time told me a story about Yorke attitude in a game, not a senior one, I think it was the Manchester senior Cup or something.
He wrote that when the game goes to penalties, he was one of the taker.
Yorke being arrogant and all, tried to chip it over the goalkeeper. But the keeper obviously have Yorke done this before and save his shot comfortably.
Suprisingly Yorke just laugh and didn't seem to care that he missed and just walk away.
That kind of attitude surely didn't belong to this club, and I for one would be very happy if he's gone.

true, if thats true then thats a pretty shitty attitude to give accross

still leaves the fact that he had the best pre-season and never got a look in from the go...

Oops, came in here by mistake. Thought Dwight's Knockers referred to Jordan's unfeasibly large ones ;)

My problem with Yorke began after the Arsenal (highbury) game and there he was with a big grin on his face -- it really didn't seem to matter to him ... I was pissed (American)

I went right off Yorke when he did a SKY one program, in it he said that, he had played for a while, and not being giving 100%, with that I wanted him out, that kind of attitude if it spread would be the end of the winning era.

Ship him out, if he doesn't give 100% in every game, get rid, and get someone who will. Many footballers would run over their grannies to come to Manchester United, so don't let Yorkes bad/flash attitude infect the youngsters. I would of much prefered to keep Cole

I'm available for cabaret and after dinner speaking...
Totally agree about the Sky progtramme. When you compare it to the one about David Beckham, who would you rather have in your team?
Yorke came along for the ride, got carried away, now he's fallen off the track. Time to move along.
I'm sorry if people think that's harsh, but he really didn't do himself any favours with his off the field activities.
He had a big chance to make himself a legend at OT but in the end was a one season wonder.
I'll be sorry to see him go, but it's best for both him and the club that he should move on.

The best striking partnership we have ever had and both pilloried. Does anyone remember the way they destroyed Barca at the Nou Camp in 1998/99?

:( :( :o :o

And the way they destroyed Juve.

3-2, 3-2, 3-2.

Think on you plastics before you slag him off.

Oh, so if someone gives a reasoned response as to why we trust Sir Alex Ferguson`s judgement in not giving Yorkie a run last season, they are `plastics`?

And if Yorkie is fantastic one season then when he does not follow Sir Alex`s instructions on how to conduct himself on and off the pitch, the Great Man is supposed to look away and keep giving `one more chance, one more chance` ad nauseum?

I`m afraid my friend, you cannot distinguish between reasonably arguments and `slagging`. The posters here were just giving some facts and I for one am glad that Sir Alex has a `No player is bigger than the team` attitude.

Plastics <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

Yorke was great in 99 so we should keep him no matter what his current attitude is like. Sound reasoning

Maybe we should have kept Irwin, Johnson, RVDG on the payroll and every other United player who served the club well at some point in the past for that matter.

I'd rather keep Irwin, Johnson, Rai, bring back Sparky or even drag Bobby out of the directors box than see Yorkie in a United shirt again. At least every single one of them can say that they played with passion every time they took to the field and I'm sure all would still give 100%.

Yorke got few chances, sure, but he showed a complete lack of interest every time he had a chance to prove himself and that is not acceptable when there are youngsters sitting on the bench (and in the stands) who would be willing to give their all for United. Disco is a huge waste of talent and the biggest disappointment I can remember in a Red shirt; Ralphie, Gary Birtles, Prunier, hell even Bosnich and Taibi were all trying to prove their doubters wrong whilst Disco appears more interested in sleeping with his doubter's sisters.

Best striking partenership we've ever had?
Er. Law and Charlton. Wake up!

Yorke is some way down the list of great strikers at United. Best, Law, Charlton, Hughes. Even McLair, Pearson and Stapleton rate higher in my books. One season does not a great make.

Good point.

But people will only really talk about their own era.

Didn't Ruud and Ole even score more this season than Dwight and Coley in 99?

Yes. And if Dwight had got his head right he mighte have been competing to play alongside Ole or RVN.
