FAO Davo

He was fantastic last night - I'm very happy for him! Slightly surprised that Jansen is not in the squad, but only because he was so rumoured to be, personally don't think he's done anything to deserve it. Nicky Butt is going despite his knee injury, so obviously it can't be that bad which is good. Phil missed out again, which is not much of a surprise, and an indication of why he might be sold this summer. Murphy only made standby!

Seaman (Arsenal), Martyn (Leeds), James (West Ham), Ferdinand (Leeds), Campbell (Arsenal), Southgate (Middlesbrough), Ashley Cole (Arsenal), Bridge (Southampton), Mills (Leeds), Brown (Man Utd), Keown (Arsenal), Beckham (Man Utd), Scholes (Man Utd), Gerrard (Liverpool), Dyer (Newcastle), Butt (Man Utd), Hargreaves (B Munich), Joe Cole (West Ham), Owen (Liverpool), Heskey (Liverpool), Vassell (Aston Villa), Fowler (Leeds), Sheringham (Tottenham). On standby: Murphy (Liverpool)

I think it is a shit squad...where is Carragher? Four Leeds players? Only 3 from Liverpool?

Sven out I say

He's played well, don't you think?

New FIFA regulations says you can only take one Donkey to the World Cup, so it was a straight choice between Heskey and Carracgher. Heskey was picked becuase he's better defensively than Carragher

Thought he was poor vs Bayer..

I'm sure OGH will continue to show patchy form and cause chaos in your ropey backline..

;)

His passing was bad Vs Bayer, his general defending was good

I think you Mancs judge a good defensive performance by your backline differently from us Liverpool fans...

The games where you class the likes of Blanc, OG etc as having decent games are merely average for the likes of Henchoz and Sami in our eyes....

How come Carragher didn't make it into the squad then?

Do you remember the rumours in the papers about a year ago? Carragher was dating Ulrika...

Think Sven doesnt want him around for when she comes visiting the England team ;)

Doesnt matter wo he picks, you'll get nowhere. I predict a shamefull first round exit. With or without The Foot.

Perhaps SGE thinks his offensive failings are too big a hindrance?

Tho he saw his assist for Heskey's excellent goal last night... ;)

Let's check the said game:

Man United's shaky defence conceded one goal

Liverpool's Sami et al conceded four

;)

Davo, if we played with 11 behind the ball for the majority of games I'm pretty sure that Blanc and Brown would look good. Not saying that Blanc and Brown are better or worse, but you must see that a way our team plays is going to leave our defenders more exposed than yours will ever be.
Whenever you attempt to play football of an attacking nature you conceed goals.

Our defence had a rare lapse..

OG has similar rare decent games..

Brown has played well in every game since his return, apart from the game Vs Bayer when his passing was poor. Don't you agree?

I agree to a certain extent, but you'll have to agree with the implications of what you say: if we would play more people in front of the ball, Murphy, Heskey and Owen would look much better as well... since they wouldnt have to chase the ball all the time and would get to play football...

For starters, if you would play more people infront of the ball and not as defensive Heskey and Murphy wouldn't be playing.

Oh I agree our style helps our defenders...

But how often do you see them feck up big time?

They're simply brilliant defenders...

When did he return?

If you think he defended well against Bayer.....well

He struggled to contain Ze Roberto and Placente...

You looked far more "secure" when Irwin came on...

Next season will be a big season for OG..

If he makes your team

They hardly created anything down their left!

I agree that next season is a big one for Brown though

Ze Roberto hardly had a kick all game!. Placente did cause problems but only because Scholes tucked in too much and never defended or attacked against him too much.

because he has got to have a knee operation.

Not according to Davo - it was all Wes' fault

I hope you continue to play OG at RB next season...

He's even worse there than at CB..

I don't - I hope we play him at CB - as he can become a very good CB, as he's proved the last month or so

Do you love him?

Why do Scousers always use "Sven think Heskey is good, who are you to argue." to justify the use"ful"ness of Donkey, but refuse to acknowledge the same argument for Brown or even Gazza (to a certain extent)
