News just in......

It appears that all the rain in the area has left the Edgeley Park pitch unplayable.....as a consequence, the FA Youth Cup tie between Stockport and Southampton will be played tomorrow at Southampton's training pitch at 1.00pm. The winner will face United at Hyde with the date most likely to be next Wednesday the 17th of January, 7.00pm kick-off.

On the Thursday United reserves face Bury in the Manchester Senior Cup at Radcliffe Borough at 7.00pm.

Get down to Hyde next Wednesday to support the young reds!

Southampton defeated Stockport 2-0 today.......the Saints youngsters reached the semi-final last season so it should be a difficult game for the young reds.......

hope the weather improves early next week, it's meant to be pretty horrendous up until sunday (at least) around manchester and we could do without this being put back even further

Soton have some good kids. Elias probably is on of the best scouts in England in spotting talents and he found some great talent, before he left to Liverpool this summer (he was the man who "first" spotted Walcott for instance). Thing about Soton is that they do not develop players, they buy them.

Watch out for Joseph Mills and McGoldrick (bought from Notts County).

We're 2-0 up at half time. 2 good team goals. Brandy and Wellbeck (on as an early sub), amongst others, playing extremely well against a good Southmpton side. Ben Amos has been very good in goal.
I love hearing Gary Neville summarising on MUTV. Despite having been there and done that he makes a point to share the excitement he knows the players will be feeling rather than talking about winning the European Cup...

Still 2-0 after 74 minutes. Corey Evans has just replaced Galbraith for anyone keeping track of the side.

FT: United 2 Southampton 0.

Good effort from the lads, with good individual performances all round. First half goals from Hewson and Drinkwater for United. Impressed with Welbeck who is still only a school boy. Quick and skillful, but also impressed me with the number of times he won the ball back.

United at home to Crystal Palace in the next round. To be played before February 2nd.

Team: Amos, R. Eckersley, Cleverly, Chester, Cathcart, Derbyshire (Welbeck), Hewson, Drinkwater (McCormack), Galbraith (C.Evans), Brandy, Fagan.

think he's considered (and considers himself) to be a striker but he's been mainly playing out wide (generally on the left) for the U18's.

I thought Amos performance was brilliant. I can´t remember a more dominant performance by a United youth goalkeeper in the penalty-area.
But everyone did very well.

Eikrem

Why was'nt Eikrem in the squad?
Does anyone know if he's injured or maybe on international duty?

It seems like we have some decent players comming trought at the moment, just look at U18, and all the young players we have there. Many of them are just 16.
