Our first FA Youth Cup game this evening. Always a big day in the season for the academy.

XI: Byrne; Warren, Williams, Tuanzebe, Hamilton; Scott, Fosu-Mensah; Whelan, Gribbin, Kenyon; Rashford

Substitutes – Moutha-Sebtaoui, Dunne, Boonen, Tanner, Gomes

Kehinde missed out, probably injured.

Only watched the last 10 mins but we've played some very good football in that time. Gribbin, TFM, Rashord in particular.

You can just about grasp why this QPR side has conceded 54 in 16. They seem a bit meek and slow defensively and - while we improved in the last 15 minutes - we really should have caused them more trouble in that half.

It was coming. Rashford & Gribbin with good chances in the last couple minutes. Whelan 1-0. Tap in from a corner.

Odysseus Alfa, yes, Odysseus Alfa scores the equalizer. 1-1. Now Rashford hit the bar.

Ahh Rashford - so close

Rashford misses a sitter. Surely most score there. Hamilton having some problems at left back... Gomes looking good again.

Its gone to extra time.

This is an exciting game.

Gomes looks like he should be playing for the under-9s (stature wise)

Should have won it comfortably during full time. Let's hope they shape up.

Gomes has been quite good.

Hamilton has struggled fair bit at LB.

This side just lacks something. And its tough to precisely point out.

Gomes looks like a promising kid - first time I've seen him.

I'm new to watching the youth team/reserves, but one thing I'm finding odd is that they aren't playing in the style of the senior squad - they're far more risk taking with possession. So I'm wondering, if one of these kids is good enough to make an early break through, how will they fit in? I guess maybe this is the problem with short term contracts for the first team manager - especially one so demanding of their players' style - I guess the youth management can't change their coaching style to match the senior coaches style ('philosophy' :boring:) in a short period of time, so why bother trying to change it at all?

Too many who just isn't up to the standard required imo.

Individually it seems quite a good group actually when you compare with previous as well. And there's a few players out too with injuries.

But as a unit they lack something.

Word. Part of the problem is the heavy creative onus on the inconsistent Gribbin. The key to giving Chelsea a game in the next round will be to switch him on.

We have plenty of wingers but they're either injured or behind the schedule in terms of development due to previous long-term injuries (Makela,Kenyon) or weak physique (Boonen).I'd start Gomes in the next round if Dearnley's still injured by then.
