i recently sat down with Gareth Southgate and Nick Levett over at The FA...put them to task over a few items concerning the England junior teams, the EPPP, and much, much more.

regardless - there's a superb bit in 'Part 3' where we get on the topic of United and the academy setup. some very positive responses from the two of them, especially when compared to the likes of what Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea are doing when it comes to the growth of their own internal setups:

We are good - probably even best in England - but it's not like we are even close to Barcelona. If we can produce players like Welbeck, Cleverley etc on a regular basis - then we can talk about top-class

As good as Barcelona is, don't forget it took Xabi 8 years to finally stamp his authority on their midfield. Players develop at different rates. Barcelona are putting out good youngsters, but I'd say 1out of 10 will make it to the main team.
