Excellent Rio

In pre-season friendly the result is not that important. But we can surely get a very positive performance of Rio from the game against Ajax. He is a much younger and quicker version of Blanc, very composed and very confident with the ball. Besides, it can also prove that why buying Rio is much better than someone from Italy or Spain. It's only pre-season yet Rio seems to be already settled very well and blend into our play brillantly.

Though this match against Ajax also showed our weakness up front. No matter how well Forlan played against 2nd or 3rd division opponents, today he was completely outclassed. fergie definitely need to get another striker before the CL deadline.

i agree that rio looked good last night. i think that in the first half our attack didn't get off to a good start with veron and beckham. butt and scholes were much more impressive...beckham just didn't look there at all...maybe it was fitness who knows...i think the team as a whole had a off night as far as attack goes and i wouldn't blame it on forlan.

I think Beckham played okay. He made a few good passes and crosses in 45 minutes, which was already not bad in his first pre-season friendly of the season.

I feel a bit disappointed about the performance, although it's still in early pre-season friendlies. The attack is sparse and with little effect. We tried too many overhead passes with simply no-one can hold down. The passing was not very good also.

We definitely need another striker, regardless from a new signing or promoting from reserves. Last night we've shown that we are a bit weak in that department.

The topics about Rio, theres plenty of Duff & Ronaldo topics in the transfer forum!!
