Cambiasso was a sensation and a captain for Argentina's U-21 team for many years. He was considered to be the next Fernando Redondo because he has similarities to him, but he's not as skilled with the ball as Redondo. Cambiasso was destined to one day become Redondo's future replacement at Real Madrid when the club signed him a few years ago. But things didn't exactly work out for him. And he was loaned to Independiente in 1997 and in the summer of 2001 he was loaned again to River Plate. He proved his critics wrong with his great performances there, he even got the attention of Big clubs like Bayern Munchen, Valencia and Benfica which pushed Real Madrid to sign him back and offer him a permanent contract although some undereducated short-winded journalists and spectators said that he'll never make it.
Cambiasso is another discovery from Jose Pekerman's long-history in coaching Argentina's youth divisions, Saviola, Riquelme, Aimar and several others were introduced by Pekerman too. Cambiasso can play in most positions in the middle but often used as a defensive middlefielder, he has a great eye on the pitch, his passes are really accurate, and his scoring record is good considering that he's defensively biased. Real were very careless for letting useless players like Flavio Conceincao and Albert Celades delay his entrance to the senior team. He is the heart of middlefield in the future of Real madrid! Despite Valdano's sixth sense in these things (Like when he discovered Raul), but he couldn't notice Cambiasso before!
Cambiasso has only played once for Real Madrid seniors before this season. Anyway, I watched the game yesterday and the super cup game with Feyenoord; Del Bosque tried him in both games and I think he left a rather good impression on his coach! I predict a great future for El Cuchu (his nickname) .
Its really a pity that he's playing with my Barca's fierce enemies! <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />
