Estaban Cambiasso....a new star born??

Cambiasso was a sensation and a captain for Argentina's U-21 team for many years. He was considered to be the next Fernando Redondo because he has similarities to him, but he's not as skilled with the ball as Redondo. Cambiasso was destined to one day become Redondo's future replacement at Real Madrid when the club signed him a few years ago. But things didn't exactly work out for him. And he was loaned to Independiente in 1997 and in the summer of 2001 he was loaned again to River Plate. He proved his critics wrong with his great performances there, he even got the attention of Big clubs like Bayern Munchen, Valencia and Benfica which pushed Real Madrid to sign him back and offer him a permanent contract although some undereducated short-winded journalists and spectators said that he'll never make it.

Cambiasso is another discovery from Jose Pekerman's long-history in coaching Argentina's youth divisions, Saviola, Riquelme, Aimar and several others were introduced by Pekerman too. Cambiasso can play in most positions in the middle but often used as a defensive middlefielder, he has a great eye on the pitch, his passes are really accurate, and his scoring record is good considering that he's defensively biased. Real were very careless for letting useless players like Flavio Conceincao and Albert Celades delay his entrance to the senior team. He is the heart of middlefield in the future of Real madrid! Despite Valdano's sixth sense in these things (Like when he discovered Raul), but he couldn't notice Cambiasso before!

Cambiasso has only played once for Real Madrid seniors before this season. Anyway, I watched the game yesterday and the super cup game with Feyenoord; Del Bosque tried him in both games and I think he left a rather good impression on his coach! I predict a great future for El Cuchu (his nickname) .

Its really a pity that he's playing with my Barca's fierce enemies! <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

Damn good post. Why should we be interested? For the same reason that if when Ronaldo was breaking into the PSV side or Zidane was begining to make waves at Marsailles we would have been interested. We (united) should be looking at buying up and coming players. Should we have spent 18 mil on Rio when he was leaving west ham? yes. What isn't interesting is posts about "hey that guy, whats his name, Zidane, he's really good, we should buy him". Tell us something the fcuk we don't know. Again, good call on Cambiasso, could be the next Roy, if he's not getting enough football at Madrid he's the kind of player we should be keeping tabs on.

He had an excellent season at River and certainly impressed in the Espanyol match last week. Real won't sell him though, Cambiasso's establishing himself as a 1st team player and Del Bosque will pair him with Makelele in centre midfield in his strongest line-up (like tonight for example).

Damn good player.

Saw the game between Betis and Madrid last night, and he was excellent. I was impressed by his ball skills, and his confidence was supreme.

Btw, the game was suspended due to a power outage. Betis were winning 1-0.

Real hasn't just spotted this guy, they spotted him 5 years ago!!! Anyone in Argentina or following Argentina's Youth Teams (an obvious target for a scout!!!) would have noticed his enormous potential.

Real loaned him to Independiente and River to give him regular first team football but never gave up on him.

For all the criticism on our scouts, I would say this isn't a scouting problem but more a case of us banking on our Youth Scheme to such an extent we can get caught short in depth as it is increasingly the case.
