Reports link the 28-year-old with a move to Serie A also, with Fiorentina and Genoa reportedly interested.

He's been linked with a move away from Norway a few times, hasn't he? He'd be quite old to make a breakthrough to a major side at 28, having plyed his trade impressively in Norway without being that incredible.
If Ole sees something special in him though then a trial can't do any harm, and if we don't go for him it seems there are quite a few clubs happy to take our place in the hunt.

The reason why he hasn't moved abroad yet is only to due with loyalty, and nothing to do with quality. He's been with his childhood team, Stabekk, since forever, and has always been adamant never too leave before he helped his team to win something. Last season they won the cup final against the great Diouf & co (Hoff got the winner), so he could very possibly be tempted to join United now, after all he has said that United is "my second favourite club."
