Can't believe there's no thread for this.

Anyway India absolutely hammered England by 126 runs today. Feels good after the past few months

Excellent innings from Dhoni, the pitch was poor with balls keeping low in England's innings but a deserved loss for them.

The 2 English commentators on the Indian feed (I think one was Hoggard) were dreadful - hopefully Sky have their broadcast available for the next game.

Went a bit pear shaped today.

Is it just down to the Indians not being able to play in England and the English not be able to play in India? Or am I being too simplistic?

Maybe there is no thread because having toured England a couple of months ago, and got hammered, nobody can see the point of playing another 5 ODIs, making the whole thing a bit irrelevant?

the state of the ICC - England and India only just played each other in what, 9-10 fixtures, and then to put those teams up against each other straight away again...YAWN.

England with an experimental side, missing Anderson and Broad, plus a few others....but India too is severely depleted.

Tendulkar
Sehwag
Yuvraj
Khan
Harbhajan(but that's probably a good thing, and he is out because of form, not injury)

but despite that....the replacements in home conditions will do just fine.

India to win the series 3-2 or 4-1.

We lost in England because England were too good. There was no match in which we looked all at sea because of the conditions, England just bowled and batted better.

England will lose here because they can't play in sub-continental conditions.

Early reports coming in that Stuart Meaker will make his debut today. How's he?
Hasn't heard his name before.

Umesh Yadav looked fast for us in the previous match
Edit: Both the teams are unchanged.

Good innings by Patel, unlucky that he got out to a bowl that kept low.

Vinay Kumar looking good today

There's no thread on it because us English don't need to care about this mickey mouse format.

:)

India win by 8 wickets. India, Kohli and Gambhir absolutely smashed them.

The most important thing is that Ashwin's performing well, which means Harbhajan won't get a sniff in. Ashwin needs to cement his place in the T20 and ODI sides.

This tour is going to be a bit of a learning curve for the likes of Bairstow, Dernbach and Finn.

Hopefully we'll see Borthwick and Meaker get a go in the next match. Currently England have no answer to India's batting prowess.

England won't win anything in ODIs in India. They're an ordinary ODI side but even more so in India. Andy Flower doesn't get 50 over cricket.

Trott and Cook in the same side in India is just silly.

It was nice to see an Indian bowler bowling more than 90mph consistently. Hopefully, he would be able to keep this speed.

I was almost shocked when i saw that guy Yadav, looks decent. Hope they play the other Guy Varun Aaron in the 3rd ODI - itching to see him in action especially because of the pace that was being talked about him bowling around 95mph !

Yadav's got no potential. All pace and nothing else.

Didn't someone say in the India tour thread that they take very fast bowlers & turn them into medium fast bowlers?

'very fast' is a bit of a stretch, but all bowlers drop in pace here..

Yadav's quick, but he has no cricketing brain. Bowls like a bowling machine..

Why do England still persist with that stupid 40 over domestic competition when there's no such thing at the most important level? How do they expect to get players for 50 over cricket?

The most important period in a 50 over match is overs 20-30 but they've taken that out of that equation with the 40 over format, which is a bit of an extended hit and giggle.

Where do Pakistan get all these bowlers from..?

Amir, Asif, Gul, Wahab Riaz, Tanvir Ahmed, Sohail Tanvir, Mohammed Sami, Junaid Khan, Cheema, Mohammed Irfan...

They should act like good neighbors and lend us one or two.

Karan, how're you getting time to watch cricket?

I started working and I barely have time for anything..

I'm still in university mate.

Atleast he bowls brainlessly at 140, much better at bowling brainlessly at 125-130 which most of our bowlers like to do.

I think we were quite unlucky to lose the ODI series in England as well. Mixture of injuries and the bloody rain really messed up our series.

Bowling a very good second spell here, Yadav. Consistently bowling around 140's and bowling some very good bowls.

Nah, an Indian team with Gambhir and Kohli at 3 and 4 is just unbeatable at home in ODIs.

Kieswetter and Dernbach

I'm beginning to think the last 12 months have been but a dream...

We seem to have become rubbish again :(

No you've always been shite...for a month or so we dropped below your level.

Normal service resumed. :D

England thrash India at home. India does likewise when the roles are reversed. Cricket has become so fkin boring.

Am fine with home advantage, happens in football too. but surely there's something wrong when teams absolutely blank another at home and then get whitewashed when its their turn to visit.

Don't seem to recall any test matches being played this series.

Luckily so for you lot.

You're dreaming if you think we'd have taken 20 wickets.

Cook, Strauss, Trott, KP, Bell, Prior, Bresnan, Swann, Panesar, Finn, Broad

They'd have at least drawn the series.

We'd spank them every day in the ODIs, but we don't need to bowl them out in 50 overs.

No clue how to play the spinners, England need Morgan back.
