As far as this series goes you'd reckon that today is pretty pivotal, to go three down would end it as a contest.

As i type this Bopara has went looking for a shot that wasn't there and was summarily caught. His woes continue.

Strauss is hopefully playing his way in, seems promising.

How about we just open with Strauss and Colly from now on? lol

For pity sake.

Would a Cafer care to pick a top order that will actually serve, then we can send it to Geoff Miller.

Ironic that not all that long ago Strauss was thought incapable of performing in the one day side. Should bring Trott into the side at the least.

Dear me! We've set a truly decent score, one we can defend.

Pity the series is already over.

What an embarrassment this has turned out to be.

Not entirely unexpected however.

All series we've only made four scores in excess of , two from Strauss, one from Collingwood who isn't playing today, and one from Morgan.

That's the nub of it really and has been so for some time, the batting order rarely ever builds a platform and then push on to make a score that we can defend. We are playing catchup before we've even begun. Yes there is KP to return bu that sill leaves us at least two light.

I think Sir Beefy is right when he stated that the team selection has been wrong for well before this series started. We might be a half decent test side, but as far as limited overs cricket is concerned we are in danger of becoming the laughing stock of the one day cricketing world. It's not rocket science that short and wide bowling gets the treatment.

Strauss, IMO should not even be in the side. He is not and never will be a 1 day specialist. You need someone opening the batting that will go out there and spray it to all parts, putting 60-70 on in the first ten. Plodding along at 4 an over for the first 20 in the hope you can have a slash at the end is very 80s cricket. wake up, the game has evolved since then.

When will England realise that you have to make the most of the power plays ? Surely Flower must have a game plan for targeting certain areas in the power plays.

This series has shown how England are predictable. Look how many times top and middle order batsmen have been caught in the deep without the fielder even having to move.

It is time for the selectors to be ruthless. Out with the dead wood and in with the new. It may take a transitional period for things to click, but it is the only way forward.
