With all the action happening in the FA Youth Cup last week, it hasn't been mentioned that two of United's U-16 team were part of the England Schools team that lifted the Victory Shield after a 2-0 success versus Scotland at Sincil Bank, Lincoln last Friday.

Sam Johnstone, after being on reserve for the first game and substitute for the second finally got his chance and made his debut. Tom Thorpe continued his impressive form for our juniors with another composed performance for England.

Ravel Morrison was obviously on duty for the Red's in the FA Youth Cup against Chelsea the night before and had to withdraw from the squad.

Was watching the insiders programme on mutv about the academy and they were saying Sam Johnstone is already 6 foot 4 or 5 and is only 15. Having seen him a couple of times playing in the premier cup during the summer and for England under 16s against Scotland he looks very impressive and his distribution in particular is exceptional. In the game against Scotland he hit 7 or 8 60 or 70 yard passes straight to feet. Hopefully we will see him in action for the academy next season
