Enable receive likes?

Is there an amount of posts you need to hit before you'll be able to receive likes? The message I keep getting is I need to post more to be able to receive my likes. Or is there some sort of setting I need to set? I'm not so comfortable using this site. So many layers of options I can hardly understand what I'm doing at times.
