The film, not the slightly weird band from a few years ago.

I watched it for the first time and really liked it. So many great scenes. It's got to be one of Spielberg's best I reckon. Great acting all round, even from that bloke from Coronation Street.

Has anyone read the book? Is it worth a look?

I'm not sure if it would even scratch Stevies top 10 to be honest. It's a solid film, and in a a rarity, well liked by the author. Bale gave a great performance, which is probably his best, since he's not in overact with a ridiculous voice mode like he does now.

I'm not really much of a Spielberg fan so I guess me thinking this is one of his best is different in that context. I thought this was brilliantly directed. And I agree about Bale, he annoys me in most films but he was great in this. Which is odd given he plays a pretty annoying kid for the most part.

I'm not a big fan of Senor Spielbergo but Empire of the Sun is my of my favorite films. That scene where Jim salutes the Zero pilots with the sparks flying the background was great.

It's not as good a film as say Raiders or Schindler's List, but I like it more than Saving Private Ryan...as least Empire is plausible as a historical movie

Apologies for the OT

You wanna see Bale overact watch him in...

The Flowers of War - decent film, but Bale is fecking shocking in it.
