We don’t have many of these. Trying to cast my memory back over the last 20 years or so I can only think of 1-3 at Arsenal in the CL, 0-3 away at Juventus. Any away win at a big side seems to be only by the odd goal. On the other hand we have taken several clatterings from Liverpool and City at Old Trafford in this time.

Madrids emphatic win last night wasn’t even their first big win at Anfield in recent seasons. Have we ever won away at Barca, Madrid, Bayern?

I remember us winning 5-3 at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup in '98. We were 5-0 up before Chelsea clawed a few goals back in the last 10/15 mins. They were a decent side at the time, but not exactly a giant.

In total we've only won away by 3 or more goals 10 times in the Champions League:

5-0: Leverkusen ('13)
6-2: Brøndby ('98)
4-1: CSKA ('17)
3-0: Young Boys ('18), Bursaspor ('10), AaB ('08) Juventus ('03), Boavista ('02), Sturm Graz ('99), Kosice ('97)

All group games. Sidenote: I just realized our biggest away win happened under Moyes.

On the other hand we've only lost away by 3 or more goals 5 times:

4-0: Barcelona (Grp '94)
3-0: Barcelona (QF '19), Milan (SF '07), Fenerbahce (Grp '04) Maccabi Haifa (Grp '02)

As for getting decked at home then funnily enough we were actually never defeated by more than a goal at home until Ole arrived and we lost 0-2 ('19) and 1-3 ('20) vs. PSG.

Records away against (no wins):
Bayern: 2-2, 1-2, 1-1, 1-2, 1-3
Barca: 0-4, 3-3, 0-0, 0-3
Madrid: 0-0, 1-3, 1-1

In the Premier League we've lost at home by 3 or more goals 9 times: Liverpool (3), City (2), Spurs (2), Chelsea & Everton.

As for dishing out; aside from having a lot of fun at St. James' Park against a Newcastle that's been varying in strength over the years our only other "big" away win would be Spurs (3-0) last season.

Does this count?

Also this 3-2 win at Etihad, when we spoiled the Citizen's "parade" they have planned.

This is what annoys me. We haven't really gone to likes of these teams and given them a spanking. Even in our pomp. Beating Arsenal 8-2 was great, I would have got as much satisfaction with a 1-5 away win at the Emirates.

Should have posted this directly before a big away game.

getting one at Liverpool next week would count double for me right now!

What counts as emphatic? Juanfield springs to mind, it was only 2-1 but we played them off the park.

The City away win under Mourinho also felt massive even though we were shite in the first half, coming back from 2-0 down to delay their title win was fun.

Anfield next week has the potential to be a good one if we can turn up in good shape.

I prefer the tight but incredibly important away wins such as the 0-1 at Anfield in 2006/07 and 2007/08

I was there. United played really well, I think Vialli came on and scored to make it a bit respectable for them. Mainly I remember no roof on the away section in the rain though..

Manchester United Vs Roma
2006/07 season 7-1
Agg 8-3
Carrick scored a beauty effortlessly.
