In light of Gazza and Wes' injury we are now seriously lacking in back-up.

Anybody see the possibility of Butt being an emergency RB or Fortune being emergency back up as LB?
 
Why we need an emergency backup for LB?

Butt may be able to play as RB, but we also need him in CM.

Any RB from the reserve is good enough to play a few matches for the first team?

If P. Neville gets injured as the current first chioice RB, we lose the back-up for Silvestre if he gets injured at the same time.

Therefore just wondering if our other 1st-teamers are flexible enough to fill the stop-gap role.

Purely as am emergency measure of course.

I'm sure Nicky has plyed at right back before.

As has Roy Keane in his Forest days.

Not that I'm suggesting Roy should do that in this case.

i don't think that fortune would be able to play as a left back because he is a very offensive player but i think butt could do a good job at right back cause he is brilliant at helping out the defence when he plays in midfield

If anything happens to Phil or MS we have Paul Tierney who was on the bench on wednesday as a reserve left back. if given the chance he could be very promising.

I was about to suggest Tierney myself, I mean that is how the kids get their chances, if Phil got injured and Tierney didn't get a go, he should leave.

Well, I did get Butt as RB right. Who'd have thought Giggs would be the LB instead of Fortune.

Don`t missunderstand me Maysie isn`t a bad player but he hasen`t been playing 1 team football for a long time. I`ve seen him on MUTV at the end of last season. He did OK, but seemed a litle bit rusty.
