Elon Musk

I think there's a little self-awareness lacking here, Pogue. I mean, you're the forum's best-known contrarian and you're angered the entire thread by being contrarian on this topic as well. Maybe not your best moment to lecture others?

 Angered the entire thread?! Come on, give them some credit. I’d go with bemusement at worst. How sensitive do you think this lot are?! Genuine anger at a throwaway comment like that would be beyond pathetic.

It was an honest first impression. The first clip I saw only had one salute and I did think for a moment that maybe he was just being a dork. He’s so unbelievably awkward and out of control of his body when he’s on stage. Look at the star jumps and weird noises he makes. Now I know he did it a second time that makes my initial hot take look a lot less likely.

Whatever, we all know his politics no matter what he does with his hands. Something I made clear in the post you’re referring to. He’s a far right shit head. Everyone knows that at this stage. And they’ve known it for ages surely? He’s not fecking shy about it. That salute isn’t exactly a gotcha moment.

Pissed off then. Irritated. Something like that. At a moment where people already feel very frustrated with the world, exactly because of what just happened. You've really not read the room.

And you're also very poor in the 'oh, maybe I was wrong'. It's there a little half-hearted in here now, after getting annoyed with a bunch of people that didn't like your post.

I'll just repeat that this really isn't your moment to lecture anyone else on their posting tendencies.

I think you have irked some people.

Personally I find it hilarious that your rush to the contrary has brought you to mitigate an overtly fascist gesture by a well known and vocal fascist.

I can also see why it annoys people. In that you obviously are just doing it for the sport and people feel it's too serious to be acting the flute about. As I said, I think it's funny you didn't pause and consider how it would look.

As I said in t’other thread I honestly think it’s just him being a complete fecking dork. As per. He did the patting his heart thing and couldn’t work out he should do next so went for something he imagines someone cool might do in a film. He’s such a pathetic nerd. He can’t manage simple human gestures.

Not that it matters, mind you. He’s made his politics abundantly clear before any of this happened.
You'll like this one Pogue...

I was in the Diamond District today for a photoshoot and almost every business in there had the inauguration on. Everyone was watching in awe at their new president and savior. The Diamond district is predominantly Jewish owned and a lot of them voted for trump. I wonder what their reaction was when they saw elon's nazi salute?

I got annoyed at people who took that initial post as some sort of defence or denial of his politics. Which is a stupid response, considering I made it clear that wasn’t my intention in the original post. I find stupid responses annoying. Although, to be clear I’m not actually angry!

he's an internet troll, that is his default settings.

With that in mind, I'd say that he spent hours figuring out the heart thing just so he could do the salute on stage and then pretend to be horrified that is what people call it.

If you want to know who musk is, how pathetic he is, and how badly he needs to be the cleverest guy in the room, depsite being, socially at least, an utter moron, that 10 seconds tells you everything you need to know.

No we the people have been bamboozled, perplexed even.

Harsh on @Pogue Mahone

I broke my jaw on the floor. Thanks Dr.

Yeah, that does make sense. We already saw his penchant for shit visual gags with the bizarre sink antics when he bought Twitter.

If it talks like a Nazi, acts like a Nazi and greets like a Nazi, it may in fact be a Nazi, not a nerd.
Bond villain to Indiana Jones villain.
When trump throws him away he will dye his hair green, get cosmetic surgery for cool scars and then wage a vendetta against Baron.

Nazi salute!!!! To the crowd. Then to the leader.

I think it was probably more because it looked like you trivialized the worlds richest twat who just bought a seat at the table of the most powerful nation on earth doing a fecking nazi salut at the presidential inauguration. Twice.

"Oh he's such a dork" is a bit of an odd take on that.

What the feck are we doing as a species? Why have we let people like this gather so much wealth and power? Wild
The system and capitalism. People who try to oppose either in our age generally just get laughed at, probably told it's the way the world works and we should do some other bootlicker shit instead to make change. That's gotten us here.

It’s an odd take about someone who is, if nothing else, a deeply odd human being.

Which doesn’t take away from the fact that he is also probably an actual Nazi. Something I didn’t deny for one moment.

The callbacks to the Roman Empire in parallel to the USA aren’t fun anymore.

It’s bad enough we have our new Neros and Caligulas…now we’re stealing their salute which means something entirely different now.

same people who want tiktok banned for being pro-palestine

Every pro-Palestine protest on a college campus is an anti-Semitic threat to the ADL, but the man who talks like a nazi, endorses nazis, associates with nazis, and salutes like a nazi is just "awkward." Are they waiting for him to put on a uniform and start goose-stepping?

Jonathan Greenblatt is one of the most spineless scumbags in America. He doesn't care how anti-Semitic Trump and Republicans are because he knows they'll let Israel do whatever they want.

I’m a big fan of Adrian Goldsworthy and I love ancient history and i read him completely dismiss the notion that America and Rome are alike in a book of his that was written around about 2012 I think. In it, he said that unlike Rome under Sulla and Caesar, the US elections are run by people who respect the results, don’t promote insurrection if they’re defeated and the defeated candidate always respects the constitution. I read this book in 2021 during lockdown and couldn’t help but laugh.
