Just pointing out that many people on the spectrum are extremely good at public speaking and for them, autism itself might actually be a positive contributor to this. Public speaking usually follows clear rules and allows us to play to some strengths typical for autism, for example our good memory. I can easily hold speeches that are full of numbers and stats without even needing any text in front of me.
It’s mostly a matter of training and confidence. As it is with neurotypical people. So some will absolutely suck, some will be average and some will be really good at it. It’s a matter of compensating for once weaknesses and drawing from one’s strengths. Personally, I don’t believe I’m in any way disadvantaged due to it.
