Elon Musk | Doer of things on X and sad little man

I do think Musk cares about humanity. Just in a very abstracted, intellectual uncaring way. But I genuinely believe that his personal "end game" is the betterment of mankind.

It's just that the means to it, and his vision of what that actually means, are probably quite unsavoury, and it's all muddled by his own callousness, unprocessed avarice and personal ambition.

I think he envisions a world run on sustainable energy, where the age of space exploration is renewed and Elon Musk sits on top of the pile and the credits roll states "the future has been brought to you by Elon Musk". And no one looks at the ultra capitalist right wing hellscape he made to get there.

I don't think he cares about humanity, I think he's a techno-utopian but it's not due to his will to better humankind it's because he's a tech bro that enjoys innovation. Those two concepts might cross over but I don't think there's any empathy in his decisions he's a sociopath.

To be honest it's the same with Bezos, Zuckerberg and Gates they've all been at stages where their driven selfish personal goals happen to coincide with (arguable) benefits to mankind.

He's an Ayn Rand character personified and like most super rich folk they end up finding altruistic projects are the final remaining option for stroking their ego. Musk probably thinks he's being altruistic with some of his projects but he's still just a rich egotistical ball bag.

What @Pexbo said. He cares about humanity in as much as he wants to be seen as its saviour.

He cares about the optics, not humanity. Wanting to save humanity and wanting to be seen to save humanity are not the same thing. Also he only wants to be seen to save it sensationally. Just feed and house people with all your money dude.
