Skysports.com understands that both Arsenal and Manchester United have been alerted to the performances of Sunderland's Ahmed Elmohamady.

The Egypt international had long-since been linked with a move to England, prior to finalising a loan switch to Sunderland this summer.

The 23-year-old is now on a season-long loan at the Stadium of Light from his Egyptian side ENPPI, and he has shown up well in the opening months of the season.

Sunderland have an agreement to sign Elmohamady on a permanent deal, but they may not be the only side keen on sealing his signature.

Skysports.com understands that both United and Arsenal are checking on the right-sided midfielder - once labelled Egypt's David Beckham - after a string of impressive displays for the Black Cats.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is a confirmed fan of the player, and news of possible interest from elsewhere could see him try to seal a permanent deal as early as January.

He's a right back predominantly isn't he?

Mainly played as a right wing-back for Egypt when I've seen him in the past.

Was excellent against England in that pre-World Cup friendly as well. Haven't seen him play much for Sunderland but I doubt we're looking for another defender/winger at this time.

He's looked very good on the right wing for Sunderland this season.

I don't think he'd add anything in particular to our team though, his delivery is no where near as good as Valencia or Nani. I'd take him as a squad player on the cheap (if we were looking for squad players on the cheap)

Well he's been a phenomenal pick up in FF that's for sure.

From what I've seen (only 2 matches thus far) he's quite a good player.

Signed him for my fantasy team last week - so hes bound to be shit from now on

Was very impressed with him when Sunderland played Arsenal. Very quick, very direct. Not the trickiest winger I've ever seen, but pushes the ball past the full back and looks to beat him for pace. Very good in the air as well, got up very early to meet the ball.

Got everything apart from a good end-product. His crossing really needs work - but he has a lot of pace and has a very direct way of playing.

This would fit in with our strange signings so far this year.

Heh. Where have I heard that before...

Good for them, he seemed to have run out of a bit of gas there and Brucey has had to be smart with him. Would be nice to see what happens if he gets a good summer behind him.

Solid player to have as a wing option in this league. Very quick, decent crosser and a hard worker.
