Gutting to see Ella out for that long, but I think the break will do her good. She came back so quickly after her father passed that maybe this will give her an opportunity to grieve away from the pressures of LSV.
Based on the many interviews I've read and watched with Tooney over the past few years, my sense is that she wouldn't know how else to cope except to keep playing. I can also easily imagine her thinking that "this is what my dad would want me to do." On the other hand, I believe that some (forced) time off might well be good for her -- although missing the Lionesses' match at Wembley against USWNT will surely be gut-wrenching for her.We all grieve differently. I’m sure she was given the option of a small break but obviously wanted to keep playing. In terms of her body language it’s always the same, especially when it’s not going her way.
So the body language or her performances might have nothing to do with her father.
Anyway let’s hope she recovers well and the mental break helps her.
Yes. I find it troubling how many on-line "reports" make it sound as if she's been diagnosed and that the 6-week timeline is etched in stone. All we really know officially is that she "felt something in her calf" while running (if I recall Skinner's statement correctly).Skinner's after-match interview says Ella's injury hasn't yet been fully assessed. So I'll put a maybe in the thread title.
Same here. I doubt she will be a starter v City, but what a luxury to have on the bench!Having a happy and healthy Ella Toone makes me a lot more optimistic about the rest of the season!
