from today's France Football "special transfers issue" :

- Thuram is likely to leave Juve at the end of the season. We are very interested, Madrid also on the case. Price could be £15M.
- Lizarazu still a priority. Around £12M.
- Mickael Essien, 19 years old midfielder from Bastia, has been watched several times. £4 M.
- Anthony Reveillère, 22 years old right back from Rennes, closely monitored. Arsenal also on the case. £4M.
- Cissé and Mexès will stay at Auxerre one more season.
- Jean Pierre Papin agent was in Manchester at the start of the month. JPP is likely to integrate the coaching team next season.

got anything to say on essien and revesomething?

Anthony Reveillère is 22, he's a defender and he plays for Rennes and for France Espoirs (France hopes ?) . He plays better for France, so his club wants to sell him, as they know they could have a lot of money by selling him... As he plays better in international games, he has been noticed by Real, Manchester Utd or Arsenal. But FF thinks he's more likely to go to Lyon or Lens this year. I would say that he's too tender for us now. But even if he hasn't been really great this season, we have so many examples of players average or just good in French clubs, and brilliant abroad.

Mickaël Essien is only 19, he plays for Bastia, he's from Ghana (like Desailly, but unlike him he doesn't have the French nationality, BTW, he already plays for his national team). He's a defensive midfielder, he's very impressive physically. He could play for a biggest French club next year, like Lyon, Monaco, PSG. It is said that English and Italian clubs are interested too, particularly Inter Milan. I think we need another defensive midfielder, it could be interesting to have him.

If we could get Thuram and Lizarazu...

thuram for 15m would be interesting ... lizarazu for 12? no way

Thuram would be fantastic.

Bixente turns 33 this year. We should go with youth imo.

thuram turns 30 ... the price was the thing putting me off about him last season

15m sounds about right for him. Apparently Juve threw down about 23m for him last year (too much). He would be fantastic, since he could move between CB and RB if (ala Gary) if required. He would be excellent with Larry. They could both mentor Mexes as well. ;)

totally agree with you

im becoming a bit concerned with all the foreigners at the united ... buy a center back, maybe a full back and a striker and promote a couple of youngsters

I agree with you there, one thing we should sign are new midfielders and instead promote the young players to the subs bench more often.
The same goes for forwards imo, 3 decent strikers and a good young one being promoted and the possibility of Giggs or Scholes also filling in up front is more than enough.

Not Blanc - time for him to move on but another replacement to partner with Thuram.

Thurham would be just perfect, physically dominating and skilled. He could play another 4-5 years at the top, Fergie would snap him up given the chance.

If we were to have Thurham, the oppurtunity for Mexes to come partner him would be big draw, and facilitate his step up to the French team.

Revellier for 4mil sounds like a bargain, even though he is young, playing in an average team he might come alive at OT because he clearly has plenty of technique, I wonder if he can play LB too?
