Prequel TV series to the films.

First ep is out, and was a solid start.

I’ve not been overly sold on the movies yet, thought part 2 was better than part 1. Will be interesting to see how this goes.

It was a ok start. The production design is its strongest aspect so far but I wasn't overly impressed with the performances. All felt relatively flat and, in the case of Strong and Travis Fimmel, all so familiar, more so the latter.
The story itself hasn't gripped me yet but its early days so I'll persevere.

Travis Fimmel unfortunately is a very very limited actor. Loved him as Ragnar, but haven't been impressed with him in anything else since. Sometimes kind of surprised he continues to get cast .

So is the production somehow linked to the movies? Do they use the same visuals, costumes, etc.?

I've only ever really seen him in this and Raised By Wolves, which I thought he was fine playing a character who was manipulative, twisted and predominantly a imposter.
His role and performance so far , early days granted, feel equally familiar . Maybe he's being typed casted.

This universum finally getting an expanse. More power to it. Gave Foundation a chance, will give this one fair shot.

Emily Watson looks a decent pick for her character. She can definitely act.

He was good in Boy Swallows Universe but that said I think he is fairly limited in the range of characters that he can play.

I was feeling discouraged the first half or so. It started looking more promising once ‘Ragnar who is also somehow still Ragnar across different fictional universes and genres’ started getting screen time.

Will certainly continue to watch.
