One of my favourite youngsters. I think it will be a good move for him in a team challenging for promotion.

When have you seen him play? Or do you just like his name DRINKWATER?

MUTV. I used to follow the academy games and i just liked his style of play. He reminds me a bit of gerrard (not saying he is the next gerrard). He can play across the midfield and scored the odd goal.

its jsut one of thse things. When you follow a team regularly you look for certain players when the team is anounced because you enjoy watching them play.

For example in the 1st team I always look for Anderson and Evra. In The Academy team i always looked for Drinkwater and Cleverely(Used to play full back back then)

I like Drinkwater too.

Great move for him. Good team, and they've just lost Joe Ledley. I don't think he'll be as influential as Cleverley has been in Watford, though.

Does this rumour hold much water?

Oh feck off I'm tired.

He was playing more of a withdrawn, playmaking role for Huddersfield, and has played as a holding midfielder for his England age group side which surprised me a bit as he was mostly an attacking midfielder when I watched him for the reserves. Hopefully Cardiff will have a number of televised games so we can follow his progress this season.

Their first game, against Sheffield United, is televised (Sky). They play against Swansea in november, that game is also televised of course (BBC).

Not that much. Could be worse, though.

Yeah as is often the case his versatility counts against him. I think hes much more effective when he has more freedom to get forward. But as long as he plays regular football its not a problem for now

Imagine if Gazza had that surname.

Injured Drinkwater Returns To Manchester Utd

Cardiff City's on-loan midfielder Danny Drinkwater has returned to parent club Manchester United - who want an assessment of the promising youngster's ankle injury by the Old Trafford medical team.

Drinkwater is on a season-long loan with the Bluebirds and has impressed so far in his handful of appearances - providing energy, drive and vision in the City midfield.

However, he has suffered an ankle injury which kept him sidelined for the 2-0 victory over Hull City, and last night's 2-1 reversal away at Leicester City. We missed his presence, along with a number of other injured stars.

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has now revealed that Drinkwater suffered a similar injury to the current ankle problem last season and ended up missing almost 3 months of action while on-loan at Huddersfield Town.

Jones told the SW Echo:

"Danny had a similar problem last season and he has gone back to Manchester United to ensure it`s not too serious."

The news will worry Bluebirds fans who remember we were without last season's loan player Kelvin Etuhu for much of the campaign as he returned to parent club Manchester City for treatment, also on an ankle injury. He returned, but never looked the player we thought we would see and ultimately disappointed.

Initial hopes are that Drinkwater could be back in full training in a weeks time, however, much will depend on further medical assessment and the need to avoid re-currences throughout the season. With Olofinjana likely to return, Drinkwater's place will go to Stephen McPhail or Gavin Rae in the central midfield area.
