Some mates going to see this guy tonight and I'm try to decide whether to go or not- I've never heard of him but my mate is telling me that he is the new Bill Hicks or something

Anyone heard of him or seen his stand up show?

Here is the blurb:
Doug Stanhope

He is very similar to Bill Hicks, but a lot more of a wind up merchant, probably one of the most exciting comedians around these days, i would advise you to go, he will go down as a legend when he jacks it in / dies onstage.

i didnt go in the end - hopefully he wont die tonight and i can still go tomorrow!

Apparently was in Liverpool tonight, he's not too thrilled with the crowd according to his facebook.

And less of a philosopher and certainly doesn't revere intellect as much.

But brilliant comic, yes...

I loved it when he decided there was no point in running for president in 08, and decided to use the funds to create the Sarah J Palin Abortion Fund:

On September 11, 2008, Stanhope re-entered the election scene with the creation of Stories from Bristol - Your Source for Social News and Networking, a web site dedicated to raising money to pay for an abortion for Bristol Palin, daughter of staunchly pro-life Alaskan governor and Republican Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
“ Rather than sit back and impotently bemoan Bristol's tragic, lonely circumstance, it is time for us — the silent majority — to unite behind this poor, imprisoned woman and save her from both a tyrannical household as well as the horrible nightmare of a forced childbirth. ”
Though the $50,000 offered by Stanhope himself would more than cover the cost of an abortion under normal situations, Stanhope encouraged others to donate money towards helping Bristol begin a new life. On the site, Stanhope pledged:
“ Even if you cannot take my offer, I will still use my money or money donated through this page to pay for at least one abortion for a disadvantaged teenage girl each year for the rest of my life in the name of your mother. And in my will, I shall have a good portion of my estate turned into the Sarah J. Palin Abortion Fund that will help girls from all walks of life from destroying their lives and our natural resources by having children.

From Wiki.... Hilarious

He speaks alot of sense, first noticed him with his rambles on Charlie Brookers programs but got more into his stuff after he appeared on the Rogan podcast. Dudes funny but he definatly isn't to everyones tastes.
