I thought we had first option on him still?
He was that Brazilian defender right? Corinthians I believe. I dunno - any Brazilian watchers know if he's come to anything?

Potentially the best ball playing centre half in Europe, according to someone on here. I don't think he/she'd ever seen him play though.

I have seen him play and from time to time I looked to see if he was playing much for his club, Corinthians. He hasnt played much for them and I believe our first option on him expired this past window. He's now on loan at Bahia, not sure but I think they're a division down in Brazil.
Just to remind you, he's a left back not a central defender. But he's big with a good jump, skillful and a good passer of the ball. The speculation was that, with the twins already here, in signing him we'd turn him into a CB and he'd replace Ferdinand. His on the ball skillset would mean he'd straight away be brilliant at playing the ball from the back. His actual defending would take time and hard work to improve.
I would imagine that signing Smalling put an end to the issue and now we have one of the finest young ball playing CBs in him.
