They made the same mistake with the previous Doctors. It started with the eccentrics (Troughton, Pertwee and Baker) to non-descript and characterless one (Davidson) to outright clown (McCoy). His assistants were equally receding in quality: from serious scientist (Liz Shaw) to the bizarre (Bonnie Langford). The latest producers seem to be heading in the same direction. Sad.
