Do we really need Ronaldo??

Inter would rather sell to Man Utd than Real
- August 6, 2002

Inter Milan would prefer to sell Ronaldo to Manchester United than Real Madrid.
Despite both clubs insisting their relationship is a strong one, Italian reports today suggest Inter are fuming with the behaviour of Real Madrid regarding the Ronaldo saga.

With the Brazilian reportedly desperate to quit the Italian club, it's believed if United were prepared to match Real's offer they would win the race for the £40 million-rated striker.

what do u guys think about this?? i personally feel that the deal wouldn't go through.. too expensive!! :D

IT's not a case of Do we NEED Ronaldo! EVERYTEAM in the WORLD NEEDS Ronaldo, if we are going to be frank! hahahaha Yes he'd cost a lot of money! But are Inter really in a position to demand that much? They are in desperate money difficulty at the moment much like other Clubs in Italy, so I think United could secure Ronaldo for 10 maybe 15 million less if they wanted. Remember Man Utd, have Nike to swing the deal their way. They hold some influence over Ronaldo!

Ronaldo is good, but he's a little bitch. Think of what Inter did for him, how they stood by him while he was injured, how he partied in some festival in brazil and the inter prez kept believing in him, how he won naught for Inter and just when he gets a bit better again he wants to leave Inter (IF the rumors and what his agent says is true)? I can understand why the Inter fans want to beat the little fecker up (check their forums). Expect some similar shit from him IF he played for United. If you guys don't want Rivaldo for behavior reasons, then you should be consequent and take on the same attitude towards Ronaldo. Heck, at least Rivaldo honored his contract until he's a free agent and moved on after having contributed to Barca.

Besides, Ronaldo was quoted saying that he did not want to move to the PL (think it was Blythy who posted that article), because it does not suit his game and rather move to Spain.

ronaldo is too injury prone, so we might end up buying a player to nurse injuries.. :p

Ronaldo - next in?

The readers of ManUtd.com have voted for Ronaldo to be the new man to be given United's fabled number nine shirt.

After we noticed that the squad number had not been worn since the departure of Andy Cole, we started wondering who would be next in line to wear the jersey - following in the footsteps of Bobby Charlton, Frank Stapleton and Brian McClair.

We asked you who you'd like to see upfront alongside Ruud, and put the twelve most popular names into a poll. In that poll, 21.7% of you voted for the Inter Milan and Brazil star, with Lazio's Hernan Crespo second with 15.7% of votes cast.

A current United star, currently wearing number 20, was third - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taking in 14.2% of the vote, with Ruud van Nistelrooy fourth on 10.5%.

However, someone who obviously saw our poll and realised his name wasn't on it has spoken out to link himself with a move to Old Trafford.

Gabriel Batistuta may be the wrong side of 30, but still believes that he could do a job for the Reds.

"I'm aware Manchester United have shown interest in me and the prospect of moving to such a big English club is extremely appealing," he said on Sunday.

"Given the current financial position of Italian clubs, if Roma want to let me go because of the wage situation then I would love to play for United.

"I don't know how much money Roma would want for me but my wages wouldn't be a problem."

coincidentally, the most favorite player to fill the number 9 is ronaldo...

Fergies a big bastard, they should get on like a house on fire

Ronaldo had to be literally nursed through the world cup. He had physio every two hours just so he could train!

He had a fantastic world cup. In that regard, I am thrilled for him. When fully fit he is rightly regarded as "The Phenomenon". He is in a class of his own.

Do I think Utd will go for him? Not a chance.

Inter, for all their protestations and hard done by comments, want rid. Ronaldo has done nothing for them at club level and has cost them a fortune. On the back of his WC performances they see the chance to get back all they've laid out on him over the past five seasons.

They don't want Real to have him (cos Real are as cash strapped as the rest of Europe in reality and won't stump up the dosh) but would rather sell to Utd (who are cash rich - tho' they like to bragg about it rather then demonstrate it at the moment).

Ronaldo would be a monumental risk and a monumental mistake for Utd. He's injury prone. Utd will steer well clear.

Crespo is the no 1 target.

well said, veron004, we'd rather hv crespo than that ronaldo...

Forget about Ronaldo, he's too expensive for us, and it'll be also a waste for us...

not sure about Ronaldo, but we need something...
if Ruud were to break down, i wouldnt be at all confident going into games with the weight of expectation on Forlans shoulders... he's a decent alround player but just doesnt inspire confidince in me the way Ruud does.
When Ruuds through, i think GOAL
When Forlan goes through, i pray for a goal but think..which stand is it going in today?

I've already said that I dont think Man Utd should get involved in Loan deals (on the basis that your either a Man Utd player or not - no half measures) but I think Ronaldo would be an exception to the rule. He's far too injury prone to risk a big transfer on but as a loan signing there is no risk. If he breaks down send him home, if he doesnt.... :D

I think Ronaldo would be a headache for Man Utd instead of helping the team. He is too injury prone and would eventually have problems with Ruud and Fergie....he is a little problematic the guy....so let him sit in Italy and watch his team practice. We dont need his dilemas.

The clever thing to do if we do want him is to put in a cheaper offer of about 25million now whilst theres dispute at inter, and if they reject it then it dont matter, but if they accept then we've got a bargain.

he's fat, lazy, and injury-prone...you'd be better off buying ronaldinho.

Inter are in no hurry to sell. If Ronaldo is still at the club come the start of the new season, he will see out the rest of his contract there. They will not even look at any offer under 35million; they don't need to. A loan deal could suit us, but otherwise I don't expect Ronnie to leave.

re pathetic. Ronaldo is still the best hing that happeneded to football in years and he is not far from hs brilliant best. In the world cup he proved he was better than all the Trezeguet's, Crespo's,Owens, and Batistuta's of this World even Vieri too. And the lad wasn't even 100 percent fit. Do you really think at a place like United he would not flourish? Are you really trying to say premiership football is half as physical and as rough as serie a football? Even when it's more open than Italian soccer? GEt real LADS. Rnaldo and Ruud would be the REAL DEAL .

I'd take a Crespo or a Trezeguet over Ronaldo any day of the week. And he is not the best thing that has happenned to football in recent years....he hasnt played in the recent years!!! only the world cups. And believe me when I tell you this, if any of us played with the team Ronaldo plays (Rivaldo,Ronaldinho, Cafu,RCArlos)....WE would even score goals!!! :D

Check it out Red Indian Chief. One day with Real and the pansy is already hurt and out for a week....

i notice in the press his contract has a clause saying real will stop paying him, and for him, should the same injury re-occur to his knee. he's on report. i wouldnt want to take the risk. and neither did saf apparrently. he was banded around while they were trying to get the price up and saf said he wouldnt fit into the system. i'd prefer ronaldinho for my onion.

If that is so then Real have got a bloody good deal: decent fee if fit, free if injured. Not bad at all!

What's this thing about your onion? I think it's not the first time you mention it. Which onion?

Why not getting Zidane, Roberto Carlos, Raul and the others too?

Kemo, you are full of shit. Have you ever seen (gone through) a professional training session? Each player will be dealt with according to his fitness level.

Oh my, now I know what this injury jinx is all about, it's you training our boys isn't it?

We need RONALDINHO more than we need Ronaldo! Simple as that really!
