Do We Need a New Keeper?

Barthez's recent performances haven't been up to much and have hardly inspired confidence.

I know he's produced a few good saves, but he hardlu inspires confidence in his back four.

Combine that with Blanc (has he ever reached more than a trots pace) and i'm not surprised we leek stupid goals!

Barthez is IMO overated
A great shotstopper normally but lacks a certain something..And the Blanc quote I think that trott is his top speed.

well said Arnie. 2 seasons ago it was the "nevilles are shit" thread, last season it was "veron is shit" this season its Blanc or Barthez.. :rolleyes:

Honestly we need a replacement keeper, Barthez has long been over rated, he is a great shot stopper but just not the kind of player we need, I think we get rid of Fab and Ricardo who is also quite rubbish. Bring in Paul Robinson (best young keeper in the world) Buy Aussie back up keeper Kalac from Ajax i think as a reserve and throw Carroll into the mix and they can fight it out for number 1!

I believe that Barthez is a superb keeper.

Yes he lacks the leadership which Shmicke had

But i think that there is Blanc for that role

If BLANC IS not LEADING and do not have the pace to deliver then why the heck is he is at ot

My conclusion DUMP BLANC AND BRING A REAL LEADER

I'm afraid Blanc has stayed a season too long. He was excellent for the final leg of last season but this year he has been rather inconsistent and looks even slower and more knackered towards the end of games.

Bring in a new keeper. One that won't shut up and tell the defenders what to do all the time. We need someone with a presence down the back.

I agree the first goal was a result of a pathetic attempt at a save from Barthez. Shit in fact.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves.
