Coveted French striker Djibril Cisse is set to disappoint a clutch of Europe's big guns after declaring his desire to stay at Auxerre for another season. Cisse is one of the most sought-after commodities in world football and has a string of suitors across the continent.
Premiership giants Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are all on the 20-year-old's trail, along with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus.
Liverpool are the biggest admirers of the quicksilver Cisse, who has scored 14 goals in Le Championnat this season.
Reds boss Gerard Houllier has been persistently linked with making a summer swoop in the region of £20 million for the French ace.
But Houllier may have to put his interest on hold for 12 months after Cisse insisted he was not going anywhere.
"It is flattering that all these clubs are interested in me," said Cisse, "but it won't change my plans.
"My brother and I have formed a career plan that sees me spending one more year in Burgundy.
"I have always said I could see myself playing in England and I regularly hear about me leaving Auxerre to join a major European club, and I do have several contacts, but I am sticking to my plan.
"My leaving in the summer will not happen and I will deal with that later. For now, I want to improve my game and it will be easier to do that here."
Cisse's coach Guy Roux has already stated that it would be more beneficial for the young hot shot to remain at Auxerre, and the veteran boss is set to have his wish granted.
