one former player i dont hear of much on here
am i right in thinking most utd fans have affection for him, he always gave the full amount, and saf always liked him, scored a few goals too.
interested to hear your thoughts. <img src="graemlins/angel.gif" border="0" alt="[Angel]" />

Hes still popular with us,
scored quiet a few important goals for us in his time, Soton away in 92 was a vital game and got us back on form and he got a couple against Oldham one season too, a bit of a supersub he was.
I saw him play his first game in Utd colours when Utd lifted the "Penneys challenge Cup" in Dublin. :D

Southampton away, the first match i ever saw on TV. He scored the winner, so i'm always going to remember him. It's a shame he broke his leg, he could've been a class player for us.

And after scoring a few important goals for us, he went to other clubs and... scored a few important goals for us (a winner for Coventry at Liverpool comes to mind).

Dion was a bit rough when he came to us.

Bit of a panic buy and he wasnt United class, but always gave 100%.

And Ferguson turned him into a footballer.

the goal, he scored againts So'ton at the Dell, kick started our season....and put us on the road to great success.

yep, can't forget him.

Dion always gets a good reception from the Stretford End when he comes back to OT

Yes. It was a shame for Dion that he broke his leg but, perhaps, not for us.

From what I understand Howard Wilkinson rang Fergie about one of our players. Fergie then, half joking, asked about Eric. Would he have asked if a fit Dion Dublin was scoring for us? Possibly not. Dion braeking his leg might have been the best thing to happen for many years.

I still like Dion, possibly because I feel guilty about the above but he always gave 100% and accepted his bad luck with good grace.

Wilkinson wanted Denis Irwin.

To which Alex said "You are f***ing joking".

And equally importantly "What about a deal for Cantona?".

Does anyone remember the buzz when he came on against the Bitters on his debut?

I thought Dion was really unlucky. He'd just got in to his stride starting to get a few goals and then broke his leg and by the time he was fit enough to come back Eric was there.

Who knows whether we would have bought Eric if we Dion would have stayed fit. No-one will ever know, but at the time you had to feel a bit of sympathy for Dion.

I've always like him.
Even after he went to other clubs he still talk about United in a good way. I think that's quite remarkable considering he's only play with us for a short time.
Unlike a certain player who won trophies with us and later went to Liverpool..
