recently a friend who is reliable for reccomending interesting things, implored me to watch a documentary called 'Dig!'
Its a music documentary, and one of the best I've ever seen. It's footage shot over a few years of two bands, who before I saw the film was very unfamiliar with. One being 'The Dandy Warhols' who had that one hit 'Bohemian Like You' that I remembered and one of which I had never heard 'Brain Jonestown Massacre'.
Let me emphasise that even if you are not a fan of rock music, it's still a great watch as it shows the extremities of the world that some exist in, Brian Jonestown are the classic dysfunctional band with numerous fights and ridiculous amounts of drug-use.
Trailer:
Basically these bands shared a similar sound and initially were on a quest to create a new neo-psychadelic sound, inspired by the 60's and mainly the velvet underground I'd say.
Brain Jonestown founder and leader Anton Newcombe is a crazy character touted as a musical genius throughout. He often goes mental and turns on the Dandy Warhols when they start making what he thinks is crap music for a major label.
Hard to do it justice as the watch is far better than the description.
Can watch it free and in good enough quality here:

Has anyone already seen it?
