Difference between ManUtd's run & Liverpool's

Watched the documentary on Liverpool's great run.
One thing that stuck out was the (apparently) smooth management transition and always from inside. Bill Shankley - Bob Paisley - Joe Fagan - Kenny Dalgleish. Nobody hung around too long. People were shocked when Shankley got out when he did.
I'm not saying it's time for SAF to go. But I'm thinking, you can't buy success by buying a manager.

But then they promoting from within with Evans and Souness and neither made an impact.
The only person with United connection i'd like to see come back/step up as manager is MacLaren.
I don't think we should go for a foreign manager, apart from Scots.
I agree sometimes promoting from within can work, Smith at Rangers taking over from Souness. It can also work against you because sometimes a completely new face can bring a new perspective and new ideas.
