now this is an appreciation thread for Forlan.
Brilliant game against the Geordies and im upset he got subbed.
They all were laughing at him in the beggining but whos laughing now?
Pure class !

BRING ON THE DIPPERS !!!

DIEGO DIEGO DIEGO DIEGO !

even without too many goals he's been putting a lot of effort in for us, i think he'll become a great player for us.

making it tough for fergie to get a new striker now i think.. if forlan can keep this up then i wouldn't be surprised if Fergie simply brings in another young talent without much credentials.

well, the fact that Diego is playing well and improving without getting the goals does not hide the fact that we are seriously lacking in the front department... ;)

He looks more comfortable in a midfield role tho.
Very versatile.

...no he's not, at least not yet.
he's had 3 reasonable performances, and getting carried away with these reflects the average season we're having.
it's up to him to show some consistency for a bit longer

Strong on the ball, works hard, great pace... I think he might be better employed as a winger.............

i agree.

but it's quite apparent SAF doesn't want to use Forlan in midfield. Going as far as employing Ole fully out wide on the right showed how much he wants Forlan to be a forward for us.

waste of time if any of us are waiting for forlan to play in midfield IMO.

he's put in a lot of effort though, and has looked good in the last 4-5 games he's played, so it just goes to show he's a capable player. groom him right and he could be the next big thing for us.

Once again effort getting mistaken for skill and greatness. His first touch is poor (Carlton Palmeresque), his finishing is...well we all know. Two very basic requirements of a striker.

Yes he has heart and desire etc but to rate him "feckin magic" on this and one good cross is a little OTT IMO.

he was the best we've seen of him so far yesterday. he was buzzing and set up a few attacks. he joined in the play more and helped the midfield and attack connect.

he's been playing good(OK if not good) most of the matches he played in.

I think if the team are playing well, it brings on players like Diego. Which is good of course.

We don't want to know about your personal problems thank you. ;)

Lucks on his side. That scuffed shot which fell at Ruud's feet is only proof of that. I was very impressed with his turn which leds to Ruud's third aswell. 3 top draw strikers

IMHO Diego HAS been magic since joining us.
He has just been made to look mediocre in a team that has been playing poorly to their high standards.
In games we were drawing and losing Diego always seemed to spark something when he came on.
Excluding the Southampton game where he scored the cracker aswell.
IMO Diego has been a brilliant buy and I believe he should be used in a left wing role to really push Giggsy for his spot.

The three things I like most about him are:

1) His link-up play is excellent. The first and fourth goals on Saturday we good examples of this.

2) His movement is first class. An example being the third and fourth goals.

3) He always gets chances whenever he plays. He might not always take them, but you have to get them in the first places to score them.
