DIEGO is not wanted by any English clubs, according to his agent, but he is being hunted by some of Europe's elite teams.
The 17-year-old, who has been likened to Diego Maradona - the man his father named him after, was rumoured to be interesting Arsenal, Fulham and Middlesbrough from The Premiership, but Dino Lamberti has told planetfootball.com that these reports are not true.
"There are no English clubs interested in signing Diego at this moment in time," Lamberti told planetfootball.com.
"Manchester United did ring me up a year ago about Diego, but there is nothing from them now.
"I would not rule anything out at all as Diego is very good and people will know about him, but there has been no contacts with any club in England."
The youth international, full name - Diego Ribas da Cunha, is one of the best young prospects in Brazilian football and there is a great deal of interest in him.
"The club will not let him go for less than $7 million," said Lamberti.
"This year Diego could play for the national team and this proves how good he is.
"At the moment there is only Italian and German interest and next week these are clubs are coming to talk about contracts.
"They are Juventus, Inter, Dortmund and Bayern Munich, Stuttgart, Werder Bremen and Lazio - but they don't have any money. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />
"Real Madrid were interested and I have spoken to [Jorge] Valdano, but at this moment they do not appear to be too interested.
"I have not had any contact with any clubs from England at this time."
Lamberti revealed that the youngster will qualify to come to Europe next year.
"Next year Diego will have a European passport, which will enable him to move," he concluded.
