Just a quick note to sound my appreciation for the man from South America. He has always been a favourite of mine (as some of you may know on here ;) ) and so, I just wanted to raise a glass to Diego, who is slowly but surely moving in the right direction.

Fair play Diego mate :D

Agreed Kinky.

He is starting to show us what he can do just hope he keeps it up.I have always liked Diego mainly because of his attitude which is spot on doesn't moan and when he gets his chance he works his socks off and is getting the rewards for that now with his goals.

Long may it continue.

he seems to score every time he gets to start a game these days.

:D

It certainly was a well taken goal. Becks did very well to nod back from a deep cross that took him wide of the goal mouth. Diego ran onto a hip-high ball, swivelled and cracked it past the hapless Brummie keeper.

Not to be out done, Beckham's goal was brilliant! Having taken a superb long ball off the outside of Veron's right foot (that totally split the middle of the B'ham defence btw)Becks found himself on a long break-a-way with the keeper who came charging. Most players would have chosen to run at the goalie and either slot it by or round him and score. Becks chose the more difficult option (IMO) and slowed down, looked up & delicately but perfectly, chipped over the poor (and now back-pedalling) keeper. Any higher & the ball was over the crossbar . . . a hair lower and the ball would have fell into the keeper's arms.

every goal he's scored has meant points - tie vs villa , soton , pool , a couple WC match winners and todays.

7 in last 14. Can't ask much more than that from a player who was bought primarily to support Ruud and Ole. He will be a 20+ a season for years.
We shouldn't get too carried away he still has a great deal to learn about The Premiership but he is beginning to show why Sir Alex thought he was worth £7 million.

He has shown a lot of character to take the criticism and keep on going and its that character that makes his a United player and not an also ran.

100% Agree. It looks like another excellent purchase of SAF.

Five goals from his last five starts...

He should end up with 15-20, injuries allowing.

It was a good goal alright, but IMO Becks did what suit him best. I don't think he would be able to round the keeper properly and Becks has always been able to chip the keeper because of his vision.

Forlan's da man, as they say.

The last 3 times I made it to OT (Villa, Southampton and Birmingham yesterday), I've seen Forlan score. And they've been crackers, all of them.

There's a nice article on Diego in News of the World today that gives some background on Diego's family/his sister/her accident. I remember someone on here asking about that a while back. Apparently, his sister was at the match yesterday, which makes it all the nicer that he was able to score the winning goal for us yesterday.

Alot is riding on Diego and his succes here, I read somewhere that he sends alot of his reported
20k a week back 2 argentina for his family, and with the crisis in Argentina am sure his recent succes is helping his family.

WELL DONE

DIEGO

the goal was awesome, it was like forlan already lifted his leg ready to kick it when the ball hasnt even touched beck's head

What happened to his sister ?

Diego's sister is apparently in the UK quite often for treatment. His house has been modified extensively to allow her to get around in her wheelchair.

All credit to the lad.

Didnt know about his sister but its good that a young player is helping his family in such a way especially with the sending the money back to them while the country is in rag order. Good man Diego, keep the smile on your face (and ours!!)

The full extent of the story (as I have heard it anyway) is that when his sister had her accident her fiance who was driving the car actually died - a man that Diego was very close to. He vowed that he would make it in football in order to cover the vast amounts of money required to give as much comfort to his sister's predicament.

This sort of ambition and charity, in addition to his patience (from the school of Ole) and zealous effort when given the chance to play, paints the perfect example of a footballer who can't but be admired and respected by anyone who likes the game.

I really do hope he knows how appreciated he is.

He couldn't have failed to hear us sing "Diego, wo-o-o-oh" after he scored. Old Trafford loves him. Never quits, never stops trying. True professional.

Alejandra, who is paralysed after a car crash 11 years ago.
"You take something like walking for granted, then you realise it can be taken away. There is a doctor who believes one day they will be able to make her walk again. That is my dream."

Just read this on Rednews, youve got to admire his never give up attitude.
