I didn't watch the game. so i don't know what happened at all. but i know veron didn't play.

was it because veron didn't play that we suddently played so well in attack again?

any opinions?

i'm not knocking veron, as i really didn't see the game, although it'd be nice to hear what you guys think about the situation.

is there a need to open up a new thread? there are at least 2 of such similar thread. ;)

there are two but couldn't be arse to put a link in it.. go to the main forum and see by yourself u lazy fecker ;)

The Veron Knockers!

see what happens when veron doesnt play,we play our best football

it was amazing! when i heard of the scoreline i was sympathizing with Veron who was on the bench at the start of the game..

we went back to 4-4-2, and even with Ole on the right it seemed to work! i also heard Scholes looked extremely strong and was winning balls.

the defence must have also done a good job.. the same line JOS, Blanc, Brown, Silvestre wasn't it? makes the 30m paid for Rio looks stupid indeed!

Yeah it was IMO

His first effort was an attempted 90 yard pass, the trouble was that he was only 30 yards from the touchline

1 chief / 1 outcome

There are several reasons why our attack was so well yesterday. The 4-4-2/4-3-3 formation was the major point. We had so many players getting into their penalty area when we attacked that Newcastle just didn't know how to defend. We could see how Ruud looked like another player when there were other players playing alongside him, not fighting all the ball by himself alone. The problem of 4-5-1 is that there is not enough player to get forward when we attack, therefore even if we looked like we have a lot of the ball the real threat we bring to opponent is little in 4-5-1.

Scholes in midfield was just terrific yesterday. He was so mobile, all-rounded and full of class every touches, everywhere. With his performance yesterday I would say he is the best midfielder in the world. Veron just can't compare to him when he played like that.

i finally got to see the tape of the game last night and another terrific thing i noticed was how Ole kept out wide on the right wing. it was amazing.. his run for the first goal was smashing to say the least..

if Ole can play that well on that right wing, then so can becks - who could probably play even better.

i think it's best when we keep our wingers on the side.. we haven't looked like that at all this season, so it was an amazing positioning IMO.

Scholes is better than Zidane now! <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

it absolutely blinds me how much influence Zidane have in the Real offensive game.. seems like they can't play without him anymore.. i don't get to see Spanish game often, but whenever i see Real i notice how Zidane dominates the game for Real..

i think we can beat Real without Zidane, but with him at top form they're 95% guaranteed to get the CL trophy again.

Anyone who missed this game, should run into a wall right now as a penence! It was a cracker. As for Veron, I commented during the game that I didnt think we'd have done that well with him in the side. We didnt miss the Neville's either.

Fortune didnt do anything spectacular, but he defended well and laid off simple balls for others to do the damage. Without Keane or Butt we've definately been missing someone in this role.

Bitchin over I'd rather concentrate on the good: Forlan was excellent and a challenger for MOM, as was Sholes and Wes. Giggs was much better, Ole was being compared to Best and then its onto RVN !

RVN has been looking sharper and sharper the more games he had recently, his first touch is back and so is his swagger. He's the man to turn round our season. I'm now praying that he does the business against Arse and Poo.

RUUD RUUD RUUD :D

They have been playing with Guti in Zidane's position quite a lot recently. Madness!

is it true that zidane lacks stamina to last one whole season playing 60 games as a first team player? tis' what i heard from a friend.. if it's true then i'm not surprised guti is playing in place zidane - it's probably to rest zidane so he can remain at his best throughout the season. i think Real clearly are more determined to win the CL than their own la liga.

Dunno about Zidane regarding his stamina. But Real always view winning the European Cup as their most important objective.

Believe me I'm a fan of Zidane and I always think he is the best player in the world in these four years. But just taking one match as an example, Scholes performance last Saturday was comparable to most matches Zidane played in.

Keen to say it is, the key to win a game in EPL is to control the midfield well, that's why we won the treble and Arsenal seems to be strong now.
So far I think veron was played bad as our central midfield. He got skills, his passes are good but he played lack of understanding with others. As the 'central midfielder', here are some failures:
1. He seldom runs with the ball to upfront.
2. He always broken or slow down our teams attacking rhythms by doing unnecessary back passes to defenders.
3. He's losing the ball so easily to opponents. 4. He never got awared by opponents to score from long range.
5. He's running out from his position when he try to help in defending but actually confusing our defenders and acts like clown because his tackles seldom success.
6. He always lose to opponents when chasing a ball from high air.
7. His right foot is world class but his left foot is 'no class' and seems slow to only played with right foot.
8. When he pass the ball to striker, he's actually not supplying the ball to striker but supplying a ball for opponent's defender and our striker to fight the ball.
Our team is like missing a player in midfield and failed to control the midfield because his aimless playing. This cause us fail to scores and overload the defenders too much. At the end, lose the game or draw the game.
Although, the skillful 28.1m of veron is not useless at all. It just that he have to forget how he played for Argentina or Lazio when play for MU because he's playing in EPL and cannot expects all his others teammates to cope him into a serie a strategy.
So please, we don't want MU to lose or even won a game because of veron but we like to see the team win or even lose a game with veron playing his role in the team.

No. The above description should apply to Beckham. When Veron did a long pass he is actually supplying the ball to the spectators behind the net or the sideline at most time.
