Would he be the perfect 4th striker for us if we buy him in January??

your right but did you see his proformance today?

I didn't no - I know he can be the most amazing player but for us he'd just prevent us from finding someone more long term. That said if we can't find the right man then why not I suppose.

He would be a short term solution a season and a half maybe, but yes I would buy him.

But we do need another striker as well, even if we finally go for DiCanio.

The goal was outstanding. If it doesn't make the top 5 for the season there's going to be some cracking goals this year.

He'd be a good 4th striker but i think we're a year too late

He is definitly not the long term option but as for a striker to sign in January he fits the bill, most strikers we want will be cup tied except him, he will fit in well for a year and half ish, should have signed him last yr though.

But he will be a good solution for the rest of the season. Then this summer we can buy a pacy young player.

If he doesn't cost a fortune he would be a good player to have.

As long as he behaves himself.

we definitely need a fourth stiker..and i think di canio fits the bill.we desperately need a link man. We're missing sheringham, yorke, cantona badly.di canio can be our new link man & players like sheringham, yorke & cantona can give us magic & di canio surely has magic tricks up his sleeve(wasn't that goal against chelsea was incredible?).i really hope united will get di canio in january!we need in europe too

Yeah, because everyone knows we don't have players who have ever misbehaved. ;)

I quite like the character/charisma of the bad boys. But it's the three match bans I don't like.

Well the way fergie like to persist in getting a player i think Di Canio could be with us in January

Miroslav Klose

How about looking at this guy as a possible target during the January transfer window??

I'm not 100% positive, but I don't think his club, Kaiserslauten, has qualified for Europe this season so he wouldn't be cup tied. He's a good age at 24 and looked a pretty good finisher in the World Cup(admittedly my only chance to see him), especially in the air. He seems to be a physical presence that could hold the ball up well when RVN isn't available. German players don't seem to be too expensive in the transfer market.

Thoughts?

too shy <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> :)

Besides, the topic was about buying a 4th forward in January so I thought it was related.

When I said 4th forward I meant that we had 3 and he would be the 4th, not that he would be 4th choice.

BTW feel free to create a new thread for this. Just credit me if you do so. :)

Only one goal this season so far, but kaiserslauten are sucking badly at the bottom of the Bundesliga(maybe a reason he'd want to leave?).

He got 16 goals in 31 games last season for them.

No way, Klose was made look good by Germany, and even then only prospered aginst crappy little teams anyway, i dont recall Klose scoring with anything but his head, shabby ground player only one strength, il pass.

My 3 fav strikers for January are

1 Gudjahsen ( Chelsea )
2 Hassenbaink ( Chelsea )
3 Maccarone ( Middlesboro)

Oh sure, Maccarone, no doubt McClaren is just waiting for Fergie to call and ask about him.

We should have signe Di Canio in January. As we didn't find anyone in the summer, we should have gone for him then. Short term options are never the best, but you always have to look at what you need NOW as well as the future, and he could have done a fine job for us this season.

However, thats over and done with now. That ship has sunk.

1 Gudjohnsen - definately
2 Hasselbaink - Never. He's too lazy, not a team player.
3 Maccarone - playing well at the moment, boro' have probably got the best out of the Forlan deal, but never going to happen.

How can u say that about hasselbaink he`s bin within the top 5 strikers in europe for the last 5 years atlest! he`s only looked lazy recently because he doesn`t want to play for chelsea anymore, he`s a selfish player who just wants to score goals and will score for any team he "Wants" to play for and would be a great asset to Manchester United. I think Barcelona have took his heart and he doesn`t want to play for chelsea

JFH has always been a moody bastard. Tries when he wants, doesn't try when he is in a huff about something.

Look at the will to win shown by Di Cannio even when playing for a bunch of no-hopers.

Lets flash the cash.

Agreed! Add to that flashes of undoubted brilliance & he'll do the job for a couple of seasons IMO

Yes i think he'd be a great signing just like Teddy was, Di canio relys more on his skill and his tricks rather than his pace which he's loosing with age???

DiCanio's outstanding. I'd love to see him at Old Trafford.

No more short arses !

If a new maradonna turns up & wants to play for Utd we'll pass then ;)

Maradona was built like a tank which makes him an exception. He only got knocked off the ball in and around the penalty area when it won some advantage for the team.
