Anyone watching it? Totally biased I know but it's really good like a cross between the inbetweeners and father Ted.

Accents not quite there but I guess Belfast actors can't do any other accent than Belfast

However the girl plays Michelle is from Derry and looks like the true star .

I’m boycotting it on the grounds that I know the director and know that’s he’s a talentless hack.

I watched the first episode last night and really enjoyed it.

'I didn't actually know that.'

The filming reminded me a little of Moone Boy, which I love.

I've watched the second episode now and it's also excellent. A new favourite, I think.

most of them are from derry, the girls anyway

Episode 4 and it’s up there with Seinfeld, Father Ted and the IT Crowd for me.

Yes hi

Being from Derry I do like it but the lead actress would be funnier if she didn’t pull gurning faces all the fecking time!

The wan with black hair is the only 1 with a proper Derry accent hi

It's a load of shite. Forced "comedy". It's trying to be a mixture of Father Ted and the Inbetweeners and failing miserably at every turn.

Missus likes it though so I'll continue watching it with her in order to get her to watch some of my shite.

I was hooked from when James appeared and the conversation went more or less as follows :

Does he belong to you ?
No, James, introduce yourself.
Hi, I'm James and I'm ....'s cousin.
What's that funny noise he's making ?
He's English - that's how they speak :D

I watched about 2 minutes and couldn't take any more. The bad acting and gurning was too much for me. People in work keep raving about it, but given that they watch no other comedies then I can only assume that if it wasn't set in Derry they would pay no attention to it at all. I'd sooner watch Give My Head Peace.

It's not great but it's certainly not that bad, has its moments. Give My Head Peace deserves to be tried at the Hague, Derry Girls does not.

I watched the one with the boring uncle again last night, he's feckin brilliant. I used to drink in a bar yrs ago and there was a punter just like him, could talk bout pure shite for hrs

I've got that boring uncle, it's always dreadful when he turns up at my nans. I'm halfway sure that my grandad died just to get away from him.

There are some good lines but more often than not a bad combination of obvious writing and and overacting means you’re sat watching as a charcater takes 10 seconds to deliver a punchline you saw coming from a mile away.

. Everyone must have one, stories that never end or have any sort of point and mine never even took a drink so you had to sit with tea listening to it

I liked it. It had a lot of heart and some great lines. Yeah, some of the performances are a bit ‘big’ but it didn’t really set out to a naturalistic tv show, so it doesn’t really seem fair to hold them to that standard.

A bit patchy and somewhat derivative of things like the Inbetweeners but consistently funny enough with a few laugh out loud moments that make it well worth watching.

It's just a shame the 'girls' are all so old, they look in their 30s rather than teenagers. A decent last 20 minute watch before bedtime though.

The English lad's a good comedy character.

The main characters are all 23-25 except for the chubby one who is 31.

Wow, why do they all look so old then, with the mother looking younger than the daughter at times?
Maybe it's just a hard life in Derry. I've only been once and it did seem a bit crap to be honest. Although it was a cold February visit.

They are meant to be 16 so it is inevitable that they look like adults dressing up as kids.

I think part of the reason I enjoy it is that I was a regular visitor to Derry in the 80's as my wife's Mum lived there at the time. Although it was grimmer and scarier than shown in the show. It is meant to be a hugely improved place to live now.

Derry is a great city nowadays - nice buzz around the place though it's still not without it's problems as it remains a very segregated city.
