Remember I've posted that our current team is very unbalanced in this year and there are some positions that hughly need more players. Defence is always our weakness but this time we can see the front line also looks very thin. Yes Veron has made an unforgivable mistake but can't blame him solely by our defeat, because we conceded the goal at the tenth minute and we should have scored several against a team such as Boro when given 80 minutes.

We all know a top team need at least four forward/strikers. However before or during this season we have lost three strikers (Sheri and Cole left, Yorke relegated to reserve) but only get two back -- One of them being a South American future prospect. Rudd has been fantastic to us, but every player can suffer a dip of form and recently I afarid that he is going through a bad spell. Ole is injured and Forlan hasn't settled and didn't perform at the level that is required for a PL striker yet (which I don't really blame him, since I expect he will need one season to truly be ready for us).
A top team must have 4 top strikers but we only have 2 and a half. It is quite ironic that we suffered from lack of top defenders in the first part of the season, and then from lack of top strikers in the second part.... :(

Isn't there already close to a million threads slagging off our defence/attack/claiming Fergie has lost the plot/saying United will win nothing this season?

Is another one really needed?

It's not "slagging", it's just speaking out my opinion that our squad didn't have enough depth in some of the departments.

When can you ever admit that we have weaknesses and need to rectify them accordingly?

Or is everything fine and sunny as it is?

There seems to be a weekness in the quality of your posting, will you rectify that accordingly? <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />

All you ever do is slag our lads off, it's boring.

I don't slag people off, I highlight weaknesses.

If you associate that with slagging, that's too bad for you.

It is for Ruud!! He doesn't look as sharp as he did, but it would be virtually impossible for him to maintain that level all season.

Also, I don't believe he was fully fit on Saturday.

In games against Boro, West Ham and Derby, he had a couple of chances which I think a world class striker should have taken at least some of them. That give me an impression that his form has declined a little compare to his brilliant form in January and February. Of course everyone has his own opinion and it is totally okay if you don't agree with mine. However I can't see why you need to attack me personally just because my opinion or expectation is different from you.

Why don't you highlight our strengths instead of our weaknesses?

I have on numerous occasions

RVN for example - I predicted 30 goals for him this season

and also the fact that we are stronger than pool

I dont believe that just because he hasnt scored in 2 games - he is off form!

The fact that he may not have been fully fit on Saturday shouldnt make him off form!

I class a player 'off form' when they are playing like Heskey was or Akinbye was or even Teddy!

Ruud certainly isnt!

I attacked you the same as you are attacking ruud!

I really cant believe you think he is off form!

see my previous post!!

If he doesnt score another goal - then id say you are right!

Tis about time we started backing our boys instead of constantly criticising them! (veron excepted)

If anyone deserves slating - Its that fecking 28 million reject in the midfield!

world class my arse!!

stay of veron man...i know he's been bad most of the season but look at pires...he was shite last season and look how he turned out...

give him and fergie some time to sort it out

as for van the man...i think he's kinda tired after his blistering run of form...he just needs some rest and he'll be as sharp as ever

kinda like beckham was...RVN needs some rest

You dont pay 28m and get shit - we did!
Pires didnt come into a successful midfield so he wasnt under the microscope as much! He even improved Arsenals midfield at the start - Veron has weakened ours. I defended him at the start of the season- but hes had the time to adjust and hasnt.... hes gotta go!

Your all so critical of Ruud - 1 average game and hes suddenly not good enough!

I think you have misunderstood my thought (or I'm not saying it clear enough). Hands on my heart, I was not critizing Ruud. We just objectively describe the fact that he seems not as sharp as in January or February (which is absolutely a normal thing for any football players in the world not able to maintain 100% in every single match he played). However, we don't have even the most slight thought of him "not good enough" -- only a completely hopeless idiot will think that Ruud is not good enough for us.

Dead right, Alex wanted to rest him many times in the last few months, but Ruud has such desire to play that he kept on proving himself fit to play. The problem is that he had a year off and it is a lot to expect a player to come back and play the number of games we do and not start to get tired around this time of year. A funny thing with slight injuries is that they can be good news for a player because it forces them to take a break. I'm sure when he comes back, either this weekend or more likely the next game after that, he will look sharp again. No player can score every game non-stop, odds are there will be the rare occasions when he goes 3 (not 30+ like Heskey) games without scoring. The problem is that we don't have 4 top class strikers to be able to rotate - like we used to.

I didn't say he was off form. I said he couldn't maintain the same level for the whole season. No-one ever has yet. Previously his form was out of this world. Now it's slightly less than that.

That's exactly what I want to say in this post. Even at the time Cole and Yorke seems able to beat any defence in the world, we still need Ole and Sheri to play a number of matches when Cole and Yorke are tired, suspended or injured. But currently we just don't have any proven striker to replace Ruud or Ole in case one of them cannot play.
