Top-notch actor.

One of Hollywood's finest and one who almost never under-performs. Looking forward to seeing him in "American Gangster".

Yet, he doesn't seems to rank alongside the like of DeNiro, Capino, Cruise, Pitt, DiCaprio, Depp and a couple of others.

That's a strange list you got there. Di Carpio, Pitt and Cruise are not considered alongisde top actors like De Niro, Pacino, Hanks or Depp.
Denzel is normally touted as being better than the like of Cruise so not sure what you are on about anyway.

But generally Denzel nowdays does the same kind of roles much like any other Hollywood actor nowdays. Still he does them very well but I would like to see him portray different types of characters.

i love denzel but he is either a gangster or a cop. that is it.

Denzel no plays Denzel Washington in films, which is a shame, because he can play many roles, like Depp and Ed Norton.

Suprisingly that's a lot of movies revolve around a ganster and a cop. I like him as an actor a lot, Man on Fire was great, I would say his only fault is that at times he over acts

Aye... Pitt and DiCaprio do deserve to be up there. Infact Pitt's looks are like a weight around his ankles. People can't see his brilliance through his pretty face. Seven, Fight Club... everything he is involved with turns into a masterpiece. Even Jennifer Aniston was ugly as hell before he graced her with his presence.

He's an excellent actor

I'd think that his skin colour probably has something to do with him not being as rated as the De Niro's, Pacino's, or Clooney's

The guy is class

I'm off to see American Gangster at 5pm today, looks really good

Malcolm X and Man on Fire are his best to date IMO

Has a certain charisma about him at times, enjoyed Training Day a little bit first time i saw it but he plays the same sort of character so as an actor he's not versatile enough.

Everything?

He was good in 12 monkey, decent in both Fight Club and Seven.
That's about it.

I liked the look of Di Caprio in Departed but he was poor in Aviator, ruined the movie for me. Let's see where he goes in future.

Di Caprio's done a very good job in a few other films too crappy. Gangs of New York and Blood Diamond come to mind.

Brilliant actor. Love his films with Tony Scott.

However he's not as good as Nicholson or Deniro. Far better than DiCaprio and Pitt though.

di caprio should be nowhere near that list..

in no order: pitt, norton, freeman, de niro, pacio

they are like hallmarks of quality...very fe films with them in i havent taken something from. pitt s seriously underated.

And a swift mentin to bale who is destined for greatness.

I like denzel too..but the 2 accusations levelled at him so far are spot on..he over acts at times and his character is similar in most films but you know what you get.

di caprio indeed...the kid is murder..."yes rose..i love you rose...woulnt let anything happen to you rose...blah blah blah rose....rose rose "

decent in the departed but with that set up you'd have to be retarded not to look good. watch the originals (infernal affairs) and you'll see the casting could have been much better.

Di Caprio was good in Blood Diamond IMO

Pitt, Freeman and Norton are not in the same league as DeNiro and Pacino

I agree with you on Bale, I like him a lot. American Psycho was ACE. There was another one I saw, can't remember the name, he plays another psycho, cruisin ground LA with his buddy, that was cool

Denzel Washington is brilliant.

Loved 'Training Day', 'The Hurricane', 'He Got Game', 'Man On Fire', 'Remember the Titans' and others...

Can't believe he is 53.

There's always that moment, in every Denzel Washington film, where the penny drops on some important plot line and he puts on this gormless look of realisation. He must have it written into his contract or something.

Apart from the normal ones like Training Day, Man On Fire, Remember The Titans, Philadelphia, The Hurricane and all, I also like him in John Q. Thought he made the film excellent. It also helped that Tom Hagen a.k.a Robert Duvall was in that.

Not a fan of his. Or Freeman and Norton.

Freeman has an almost regal screen presence, but I agree he's not the best actor. I reckon Norton is decent though. He's done a few turkeys but I've always thought his performances have been good. On the downside, he does have a whiny voice.

Di Caprio is underrated. I feel that has to do with him becoming a poster boy early. Much like Tom Cruise who really is a good actor but doesn't seem to get the recognition he deserves. Di Caprio has played tons of different roles. What's eating Gilbert Grape, Gangs of New York, The Aviator, Blood Diamond, The Departed, The Basketball Diaries.. All great films imo

He has played them, but I wouldn't say he was very good.

Add Catch Me If You Can in that as well. He did well in that movie.

Norton's not bad. Freeman always plays the same role(yawn). . .and Washington's about as lame as it gets. Very bland. I refuse to watch any of his films.

Norton's overrated as I've said before. Washington didn't deserve an Oscar for Training Day. Lots of average movies. And Freeman, yes same role every time.

Washington should have got the oscar two years running it was a crime he didn't get it for the Hurricane, Training Day wasn't as good acting but it was still the best performance that particular year.

I would put Washington up there with the very best, De Niro is probably the best imo.

Russel Crow in A Beautiful Mind was better that year. he didn't get it because he'd won it for Gladiator the year before. Also he got drunk at the Golden Globe, which he did win, and got a lot of bad press for that.
