After now seeing alot of strikers in sction over the summer and the new season there seems to be alot of god strikers that could become available and JERMAINE DEFOE looks that most exciting , he has the pace , power, finshing ability and an incredible work rate . Surely Fergie must have a go with him

Great little player...would do well at OT IMO

definitely a contender along with Cisse. a better bet than vassell who we've likewise 'looked at.'
seems to have a goal scorer's instinct too.
yes sir, thats my onion!

Funny nobody mentioned him until he scored against us. Must be worth 20 million now

He's short, doesn't score much, not got a lot of ability, but he is quite nippy. Not good enough though imo. Compare him to Rooney. See what I mean?

Thats 3 in 3 matches against United for him now.

Takes to many chances before he scores... a bit like a former striker we used to have.......

Christie ? Scored against Arse as well. If the price was right I'd have him in the squad.

Then I'd love to have him, THAT former striker served United well.

I'm very disappointed that you don't pay more attention to my posts Wibble.

I suggested Defoe some while ago.

Ok. So I should have said "nobody minus 2" ;)

And I though he was pretty crap against us on Sunday. He would be an OK addition to the squad if he cost next to nothing (not likely) but I'd settle for Di Cannio for next to nothing as a short term fix.

I don't think Di Canio is the answer.

Too temperamental when things go wrong - Eric was temperamental, but he didn't sulk. Di Canio strikes me as that type of player.

Henrik Larsson and Defoe would suit me.

Defoe! You're having a laugh arnt you!

Yet another player who scores a goal (an offside one at that) and gets linked to Man Utd.

There are around 12 strikers in the world that should be considered, in terms of being the finished article. Anyone else would need to spend a year or two in the reserves.

Defoe wouldnt be one of me first choices but he is a good little player and could do well in time, gimme Cisses anyday though!

I prefer not to have the finished article.

I prefer it when we create stars.

Yes. He is my younger brother's very close mate.

Its always nice to see him performing well.

Would love to see him at OT in the future, will be a great goal scorer in his prime.

So do I Livvie, ideally, but a bit like we 'had' to buy Rio, we 'have' to buy a new striker - and if Kenyon is to believed it aint gonna happen.</strong><hr></blockquote>

OK - so let's look at the alternative.

We get our midfield firing on all cylinders so that Ruud/Ole/Diego will put away the chances.

Yes we have missed chances this year, maybe more than is usual, but are we noticing them more because of the lack of goals - the reality is that we aren't getting as many chances as we normally do, therefore the misses stand out more.

Can you see either Ruud or Ole continuing to miss chances if they were being created as much as in previous years? I can't.

So if we don't get a striker - we get the midfield playing like a unit again. At the beginning of the season it was described as the best in Europe, so we have the personnel to do it.

not to be picky but if look at the back posts about strikers you'll find that i said in 3 or 4 different posts that i thought DeFoe would be a good signing but no-one listened to me.
If you don't believe me try the "Poll. Who do you want Fergie to sign" thread.
