General_Elegancia Tactics

My team will play in a 3-5-2/3-4-1-2 formation with a normal or deep line. We will probably sit deep and then hit them effectively on the counter. My team will transform into a very organized 5-3-2, which is suited well to sit back and hit on the counter.

Defensive: Maldini and Carvalho were two-center backs who have the great ability to cover wide areas. They were quick enough to cover the space, had great tackling ability both standing and sliding and were active enough to anticipate opposition movements. Maldini has been a gold standard for LCB/CB hybrid for almost 25 years, while I suspect Carvalho also could play this role at the elite level.

Van Dijk will be more of a covering center back in the middle. He's known for his organizing prowess, aerial ability, and passing ability. He will be my creator and passer in the deep area. All of my defenders(CB) are very comfortable and calm on the ball. They will perform great units with excellent communication, vocal presence, and teamwork ability.

Wing-backs: Brehme and Jardine are my choices as wingbacks. They are one of the most important positions in this formation. Both are mainly responsible for giving my team width. Both provide solid attacking and defending contributions, constantly running up and down the pitch, have great crossing ability, and are very fit and disciplined.

Midfielders: Gilberto Silva and Pirri form a very formidable and trustable pivot in midfield. Gilberto Silva will be a more defensive-minded player, he will bring safety and stability to our team with his great positional sense and reading of the game. Pirri will play as more of a box-to-box midfielder, who contributes in both phases ( attacking and defending). Platini is the best player on my team, he had experienced playing in counter-attacking set-ups many many times at Juventus in the 1980s. He will be my main playmaker who has freedom in the attacking phase and will provide world-class playmaking, passing, and scoring skills. He also had enough defensive work rate which is always underrated by fans.

Forwards: Stoichkov and Cavani have a phenomenal work rate, at their best both are fast as hell too ( which is considered important since my team has Platini). It's a combination of the number 9 and the second striker. I don't think I need to describe Stoichkov that much, since he's a very household name. Cavani during the early 2010s was a quick, strong, intelligent movement off the ball, a great header, a tireless worker, and could create space for other teammates. In this game, I think Cavani will give a lot of benefits to Platini, who is the best in terms of running and ghosting into the penalty box with great timing to score( a bit similar to Rossi and Platini). Cavani was/is also very comfortable in the wide-areas too.

Hard luck @General_Elegancia - love your backline, particularly the Maldini + Brehme pairing.
Thanks, Himmanv

I love your sublime attacking-unit, it’s pretty excellent especially if we consider we’re in round 1. I’m sorry that I couldn’t contribute anything, since I had stayed at building construction since Thursday( all day long) and I didn’t have time to even open in my PC( I can open only in my phone).

It’s first time since Thursday that I have time to answer in PC( not my phone or IPAD).

No worries at all. I’ve been rather busy as well so I wouldn’t have had a whole lot to say.

What are your thoughts on Haaland? I thought you might start him considering the hot streak he’s on right now.
